Pizza lockdown confuses tourist

10:03AM Friday December 07, 2007
Housekeeping staff at the Hermitage Hotel in Mount Cook were called to help an American guest who complained she could not get her pizza out of the microwave.

It turned out she had in fact put the pizza in the safe in her room and activated the lock.

Hmmm.  No one happened to notice her hair color, did they?  ;)

Actually, as funny as the short story reads, I did find the following pic of a "hotel room safe."  I can see why she could possibly have been mistaken...especially if jet-lag and a couple drinks at the bar were tossed in the scenario.  ;)

...but, did you eat pizza when on shift duty at the hotel?

Obviously not.  But if she never reported the incident, I'm sure someone would have eventually stumbled upon a valuable petrified pizza.

I sometimes got pizzas from Pizza Hut when I worked day shift.

We got complaints all the time of "My microwave doesn't work". The power button was labeled like this:

START/STOP

People would try to press "Start", when the button was in fact where then slash is.

I can say that putting a remote control into a microwave will ruin it forever. You never get the smell out.

Once here, I put a pizza in for reheat and accidentally set the time for 20:00 instead of 2:00. 11 minutes later, I learned that pizzas are flammable.

Start and Stop, the perfect combination.
