Subject: Christmas presents itself early

Written By: Philip Eno on 08/08/09 at 12:45 pm

Some four-and-a-half months before Christmas day, a range of festive goods is on sale at a top department store.

Selfridges Christmas shop traditionally opens in late August, but has launched earlier than ever this year to cash in on the tourist trade.

A spokeswoman said: "It gets earlier and earlier every year. This year there are a lot of tourists in London because of the situation with sterling."

Christmas shops at the Manchester and Birmingham branches open in October.
