The owners of the Ice Cream Family Corner and Sandwiches recently thought it would be a good idea to have someone stand outside their business in an ice cream cone costume.

“We were just trying to get people to come in,” said store employee Jasmine Gonzalez.

But a lot of people driving by the store, located at the intersection of South Pine Ave. and Southwest 17thSt., thought the person standing outside was actually wearing a Ku Klux Klan outfit.

The owners say they had no idea about the mistaken identity.

“I’ll say about a week after we hired the guy to stand outside, people stopped coming in. Like, dramatically. We would stay here a whole day with nobody coming in.”

Diaz (the owner), who is from Puerto Rico, said she had never even heard of the Ku Klux Klan. “I asked my husband and when I found out, he explained it to me,” she said. “Wow!”

What idiots looked at the white point with colorful "sprinkles" and waffle cone and said....hmmmmmm could that be a klansman?

look I get paranoid when I see people do things like "cutesy" spelling of words that 'miraculously' winds up with three Ks like.... oh I don't know.... a product sold in stores called Krazy Kritter Kups. I refuse to buy them and drink out of them because I think they had the option when naming their product to go a different way.... but I'm not gonna not go to the store because the Ice Cone costume kinda looks like a klan hood.... come on....
