Subject: Three-year-old fires shotgun through car roof while mother sealed drug deal.

Written By: King Tut on 10/12/11 at 12:34 am

A mother who took her three-year-old child along on a drug deal was busted by the police after the youngster got hold of her shotgun and blasted a hole through the car roof.
Shanla Sutherland, 28, had taken her two children aged three and five to a car park  in Cobb County, Georgia where she and accomplice Leah Porter were selling prescription drugs.
According to Cobb County police just as they were negotiating a deal with 30-year-old Brandon Donahue, the three-year-old, who was sitting in the back seat, picked up her 12-gauge Mossberg pump-action shotgun and pulled the trigger.

The blast went into the roof of the blue Chrysler Town & Country minivan which had been driven by Ms Porter and although no one was hurt a passer-by called the police.   When an officer arrived, he learned that Sutherland had fled into a nearby shop leaving her two children in the back seat of Donahue’s car.  Cobb police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said: 'Donahue, Sutherland and Porter were negotiating the sale of prescription medications when a firearm was fired 'It was determined inside the van was a loaded 12-gauge Mossberg. The children apparently were playing with the shotgun when the trigger was fired, discharging the shotgun.'

Porter was stopped a few miles away. She was arrested and charged with reckless conduct.   Donahue was arrested and charged with obstruction after he allegedly refused to cooperate with Cobb County police investigating the incident.  According to the police report, 'Donahue lied repeatedly and did not cooperate with officers’ questions,''Sutherland was also not cooperative and lied repeatedly to officers,'

She was arrested and charged with giving a false name/date of birth and obstruction, and for using a cell phone in the illicit sale of drugs. She also was arrested under an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. Sutherland, Porter and Schott have posted bond and are awaiting trial after being released from Cobb County Jail. The shotgun has been seized by police.
