Subject: Card players each dealt perfect hands

Written By: Philip Eno on 11/26/11 at 5:42 pm

Four pensioners playing a game of whist couldn't believe their eyes when they were each dealt a complete suit of cards.

Wenda Douthwaite, Arthur Beasley, Norman Stone and Ron Coles - all in their 70s - had just sat down to their first hand in their local village hall.

The odds against four people each being dealt a full suit are 2,235,197,406,895,366,368,301,559,999-to-one, reports The Mirror.

Mr Coles said: "I shuffled the cards a number of times like I always do. I then passed the deck to Alan, who cut them. And he passed the cards back to me to deal."

Mrs Douthwaite, of Kineton, Warwickshire, said: "As soon as I picked up my hand I saw I had a complete set of spades.

"We laid our cards on the table and Arthur had all the hearts, Norman the diamonds and Ron the clubs. They weren't in order but they were all there."
