Subject: Bob Dylan picked up in NJ town for looking like a vagarant.

Written By: ChuckyG on 08/14/09 at 7:49 pm

Police were called in a quiet seaside town after he was spotted freewheelin' down the street and apparently acting suspiciously. A 22-year-old female officer demanded to see his identification papers.

He assumed she would at least recognise the name if not the face. But she ordered him into the back of her car and took him to his hotel to check his story.

Talk about slightly embarrassing for everyone involved.

Mannnnnn!!!!!!  Someone has to send the young thing back to school.  He wasn't committing a crime, doesn't matter who he was, but I am sure it is covered by the Patriot Act.

I don't think Bob has ever been known to be a snappy dresser.

He hasn't mastered that "Cary Grant" look yet.

This reminds of a news report on Bob Dylan from earlier this year, taken from MetroLyrics:

"Bob Dylan remained unknown on a £16 bus tour of John Lennon's childhood house

Bob Dylan remained unknown as he joined tourists on a £16 bus tour of John Lennon's childhood house.

The 67-year-old legend was not recognised as he joined tourists at the house in Liverpool, where he is currently based as part of his tour, and looked over the memorabilia.

A spokeswoman for the National Trust, which owns and looks after the house, said to British newspaper the Daily Mirror: "We couldn't believe it when his agent rang us and asked if we could get Bob on one of our tours to see John's house."

The spokeswoman added: "He spent ages going through photo albums and was thrilled at all the memorabilia. He's definitely the biggest celebrity we've ever had on our tours."

The spokeswoman added: "But incredibly no one else recognised him."

I think Bob has spent his entire life rather low-key, in spite of being one of the most celebrated and revered musical artists of all time. It's good to know all the fame & adoration over the years didn't end up destroying Bob or turning him into a recluse/monster as it has done to so many other artists and musicians...

LOL. I'd pick his ass up just because he created the lyric "In the jingle jangle morning"

>:( Just WHAT is a "jingle jangle" mroning? One where you play "Jingle Bells" all day? LOL.

The definition of "jingle-jangle" - make a sound typical of metallic objects.

i.e. "The keys were jingling in his pocket".

22 year olds may not know who Bob Dylan is.  If he's not on Hannah Montana, then they don't care ;D

We care for him, and I still wish to see him live.

One of my most favorite lyrics from one of my most favorite songs.

I think it also refers to the nerves of someone who is coming down off of drugs and looking for a fix.  The Tambourine Man is a dealer (his song being his drugs,) and in the morning, when ones nerves are Jingly Jangly, they go following the Tambourine Man.

Hey Mister Tambourine Man
Play your song for me
I'm not sleepy and there is no place I'm going to
Hey Mister Tambourine Man
Play your song for me
In that Jingle Jangle morning I come following you.

It is really quite a beautiful song if you listen to it all the way through.

Doesn't get much better than this

Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind,
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.

Absolutely gorgeous.  I've been listening to this song a lot since I've seen this thread and I swear it gets better every time.

Bob knows no bounds.

Over religions, ages, cultures and countries his  music can touch everyone who listen to it and has a soul to feed.

You know, I've been listening his songs without picking up what words meant. Only his mussic and rhyme it was worth.
Now I'm struggling for learning every little thing he said, and the first thing I just learnt it's that every word said then it's still worth now.

Yes I agree with Danoota&Me, youth should study his songs at school. Maybe they would have got an more opened mind for the years to go.

I restart this thread only to say Bob is the greatest songs maker I've ever knowed. Plenty of his songs tell me something deep, real and strong.

I know well music is for fun but also to make our spirits soar, and that isn't at reach of many singers and their throats,

Don't think twice it's alright !

This thread came back to life just in time.  I pulled up to the gas station this afternoon, and the only available pump was marked "out of order".  Although the handle was technically present, someone had run over it and it was damaged beyond usability.  Fortunately, in the '10s, you don't need a radio station, because your MP3 player contains every song you ever enjoyed, and it's easy to flip to the appropriate track.  Gas might be $4.00 a gallon, but it was worth it today.

(For those who don't get the reference, the motivational poster isn't a photoshop - it's actually from the original video.  The track's inexplicably named "Subterranean homesick blues", and inspired Weird Al Yankovic's palindromic tribute "Bob".)
