Surfers Against Sewage urges beach users to take their litter home and recycle as much as possible

Crisp packets dating back to the 1960s have been found on a Devon beach.

The two packets were collected during a Surfers Against Sewage beach clean at Saunton Sands, near Woolacombe, in North Devon.

The group claims some plastic packaging has remained on UK beaches for almost as long as the Queen's reign.

A 1970s drinks can, crisp packets from 1967 and 1968 and a 1990s chocolate bar wrapper have been found during recent beach cleans in the UK.

The organisation said plastic litter was a threat to marine life.

Surfers Against Sewage urged beach users to take their litter home and recycle as much as possible.
