Thanks to both of you. Things are looking good so far...he'll have a stress test sometime this week. All I need now is to learn what all these hospital terms mean.  ??? Later!  8) -- Junior

Honey, I've got a mom who's been going through really scary stuff for a few months, so I know the fears and I know prayers help. I sent word "up" as soon as I saw your message and will continue to.

If there's any evidence of cancer, send me a PM. I've done a lot of research and can point you in the direction of answers I don't have.

Finally, we know it's the way it's intended, but that doesn't help facing a parent's mortality. It's terrifying to think of them gone. Then who's supposed to kiss away the boo-boo's? My heart sends you its strength...

Junior...if there is anything I can say to make it better for you and your family is to believe that miracles can happen.  My dad went into the hospital in September for a simple heart bypass surgery and 5 operations later, 75 pounds lost and 3 months in the hospital...and I don't know how many almost "lost" situations, he is now home and well on his way to a complete recovery.  Just remember when all hope seems to be lost, there is a higher force doing things that we can only hope for.  I pray for you and your family to have a good outcome out of a situation that can only make your family stronger!! ;)

Cricket, that made goosebumps rise to my skin and tears rise to my eyes. Thank you. I'm so very happy you can say that.

My prayers as well. My family went through a lot with my dad before he died, so I know how much the unknown can weigh on you in these situations. I think we all will be praying for the best possible outcome.

You already know you are among friends here.  Unfortunately, many of us here are getting to the age where we are going through this with our own parents.  That also means that we, as the close-knit "online family" we have become, are going to be able to provide the support to each other that we know from experience people need at times like these.

What specifically touched me about your situation, Junior, is your mention of needing to learn what all these hospital terms mean.  I know that the first time I went through caring for someone with a terminal diagnosis, it was absolutely overwhelming trying to comprehend all the medical jargon while I was in such an emotional state.  I don't know what I would have done without my premed background.  I am pleased to tell you that I did manage to get it all sorted out though; and learned enough so that when my Mom was diagnosed with cancer a year later, I was able to provide all the treatment and care she required to keep her out of the hospital so she could have her wish of dying at home.  These "hospital terms" are forever etched in my brain and heart, and if you need to know absolutely anything, I can either answer it or find the answer for you.  You and your family certainly don't need the added stress of not really knowing what's going on.

My love and prayers to you and your family, Junior; especially for your Dad.
