Congratulations, Junior!  Your own music, correct? (I'm recalling an earlier thread where you mentioned pursuing music).  That is awesome!

That's cool.  I just bought a component CD burner and a sampler machine so I have been cranking out my own remixes to use at gigs...I'll post the track listings in a new post of my remixes.

I'd like to be a DJ if not in a band...a DJ would be a cool job! I think it'd be cool to create my own remixes...I've seen some programs over the internet for remixing but they were too complicating  ???  ;D ...know any *FREE* programs for remixing that I can download over the 'net? I've been lookin' all around...

I don't have time to make CD's anymore.  Although, when I make a CD, it's an MP3 cd.  150 songs per CD, baby! I have a portable player in my car that can read these CD's.  I pop one of these in and I'm good to go for the next 8 hours.  I also have one at work.  I'm driving people nuts with it, cuz all they hear is 80's music all day long.  And my boss is about 10 years younger than me...

I haven't used any PC programs to create my own remixes...just a Boss Dr. Sample SP-303 Sampler (can basically sample any input source and tweak it any way you want), CDs and turntables...all analog (and the quality is pretty decent; you can't notice much faultiness on a loud PA system).  Anyway, I've been taking single versions of songs and making extended "DJ Friendly" remixes (with Intro's, Breaks & Outro's).  Here is a list of some (keep in mind, most of what you see here is what is most requested at the gigs I've been doing lately):

Britney Spears - I'm A Slave 4 U (looped beats for a longer intro, also overlayed bassline from Vanity 6's "Nasty Girl" as well as numerous samples from both songs, re-sequenced to make a new statement (V:"It's time to jam"/BS: "For You"/V:"Dance, dance dance"/BS: "(Slave...)")

Outkast - Rosa Parks (Killed the bass on the single version and overlayed a new funky beat loop)

Ja Rule - Livin' It Up (Overlayed a new beat loop and added some flanging effects)

J-Lo & Ja Rule - I'm Real (Sped this slow-mover up to 90 BPM and added a new beat loop)

P!nk - Get This Party Started (added a freestyle breakbeat and samples)

Daft Punk - One More Time (made 2 remixes of this, one with just a house beat added, the other with a different house beat loop as well as a drum loop from Power Station's "Some Like It Hot" to give it a tribal/marching feel)

Jay-Z - H.O.V.A. (added a new beat loop)

Shakira - Wherever Whenever (added a house beat loop over the single version)

Outkast - The Whole World (added a house loop.  I was thinking some Soft Cell "Tainted Love" samples would work with this one also, or Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus"...)

Tone-Loc - Funky Cold Medina (cheap knockoff of the Funkymix put out by Ultimix)

Young MC - Bust A Move (looped the break to create an intro and outro)

Matthew Wilder - Break My Stride (added Rob Base Beats...Woo! Yeah!)

Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl (added a freestyle breakbeat to parts of the song and sampled some of the beginning notes to create a bassline that kinda sounds like War's "Low Rider"...Ultimix coincidentally put out a remix shortly thereafter...)

Various - When Osama Bin Laden is Caught (I tried to emulate the song heard at http://www.dancingbush.com/I used samples from "The Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust, "Holiday" by Madonna and "Saturday Love" by Cherrelle and Alexander O'Neal.  Just experimenting, this one isn't all that great...)

In addition to creating my own remixes I am also moving from making mixtapes to mix CDs...fortunately my CD burner (TDK DA3826) allows me to index tracks so I can make a continuous mix CD without any spaces between tracks.

As soon as I create some flawless remixes (Britney's "Slave" is near-flawless) I plan to submit them to remix services to see if there is any opportunity...

That is so cool!   8)  I enjoy making CD's myself but haven't had too much time to do the inserts/labels lately.  I need to get them done soon though before I forget what's on them!  LOL!

You think labels are bad now, trying labelling one of these babies.  I just had to say screw it, and just number them.  makes it a surprise with each CD I put in...

Of course.  :)

But this was TX's quote - "All I can say to most of these is, Who?"

That's what I meant.

The only other one I recognize, but not as the recent release but as the original - is "Smooth Criminal". IMO, not one of Michael Jackson's best either.

I guess I do a pretty good job of avoiding today's music!  :D
