Subject: Best/Worst day of your life?

Written By: Natalie on 04/26/02 at 00:27 a.m.

We've all been through a lot, both good and bad, but try to remember the best and the worst days you've ever had - what happened?

My best day: December 15, 2001 - (the day I graduated college).  After 5 years of working 40 hours a week, and going to school full time, it finally paid off...I'm a college grad, YEAH!

My worst day: The day I found out my mother tested positive for Scleraderma.  After many weeks of prayer, she was healed.  So, everything worked out - thankfully! :)

The best day was the 21st July 1997 when I left my previous school (it's not as bad as I make it out, it was only 600 yards away and I'm still friends with everyone.

The worst day of my life was January 3rd 2000, when Grandad rang up at 11:20 pm to say that Grandma had just died. I couldn't believe it. I can surely rest assured that she is in a better place now.

The best day of my life was when I was born. If I hadn't been born, then I wouldn't be on here posting messages for all the world to see. ;D Seriously, the best day of my life was when my sister was born. I was so happy to have a little sister to love. I loved taking care of her and holding her. But I have had many bad days in my life. Four of them tie for being the worst. In 1991, my grandfather died. In 1993, my cousin was born addicted to heroin. In 1994, my uncle was shot and killed. In 1997, about two weeks after Princess Diana died in a car crash, my mom was in a car accident. It resulted in her getting a blood clot in her leg and having to have bypass surgery to fix it.

I'm sorry to hear about that. It seems that a lot of us have been through a lot of agony simply to survive, but having to lose four close members of your family like that, my sympathies are forever with you.

Hang in there.

Thank you. As crazy as it sounds though, my mother and my cousin lived (barely). My mom is much better now and her leg only hurts when it rains, and my cousin is now 9 years old and gets excellent grades in school.

The best day of my life is always today.  Every new day starts out with such promise to do some good in the world, and what you do with that opportunity is entirely up to you.

As for my worst day - I can't really say I have one.  Everything that's happened to me up until now has made me who I am today, and I happen to like that person.  I have learned more from the many tragedies I've known than I ever could have if I had experienced only happy times.  Pain isn't necessarily a bad thing; once again, it all comes down to what you do with it.

Life's too short to second-guess yourself or have regrets.  Let the past go, look forward to the future, but live in the moment.

The best day would be when my daughter was born.

I can't say that there was a worst day.  When my maternal grandma died, it was a relief.  She has been really sick...when my grandfather (her husband) died we knew he was with her again.  When my paternal grandma died she was 88 and had lived a long life.  It was hard, but she was in a nursing home because of a broken hip...that was one place she never wanted to be.

I remember it quite well.  June 19, 1969.  I bought my first real six string at a five and dime.  No wait... I wasn't born yet. hmmm, ah well, guess I don't remember it after all.  I guess the worst day would have been when my stepfathered died.  Or when I walked in on my girlfriend in bed with my roomate.  *shrugs*

True, for me, as is the worst. Because no matter what pains I've been through, the ones that currently hurt are the biggest, and no matter what joys I've experienced, the smile on my face at the moment is the best.

Okay, that's one side.

The other side is so full of stuff I don't want spilled onto a board because, both good and bad, I value it's invisiblility and the fact that I can come here and ignore it all. But I love feeling connected to my fellows, and there is no ounce of me that does not empathize with all of it.

Did we date the same girl?  My worst day would have to be when I walked in on my girlfriend and best friend.  I was like Sam Kinison.  "AHHHHHHHHHHHH!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

My best day....  Hmmmm.........  tie.  The days my son and daughter were born.

By now, you all know what the worst day of my life was. Best, however, are a 3-way tie: the days my children were born!!!

I have had more worse days than best days. I could say my mother's death was the worst, but that's too obvious. My worst day was I went to a work lunch with workers from the other branch.  The service stunk, and the behavior of these people stunk even worse. So I told their supervisor. Needless to say they gave me the cold shoulder and worse.
My best day, I would say, would be my graduation from high school. Because I was glad to leave such a place. :D :D :D

I can say honestly that I've had more best days than worst days.

One of my best days was in 1995, the day my daughter was born.

The others I will share happened about two years earlier.  There was a string of three in a row, and it was every teenybopper's wish come true.

It started out with me catching a theif at the bank where I worked.  Not the bank-robber kind, but a fraud artist.  I was still feeling pretty good about it when I got the phone call.  It was the keyboard player from a local band (that had just been signed to a "major label") whom I had a crush on.  I had sent him a love letter on a dare, not really expecting to hear from him.  We had a nice little chit chat, about the music, and I literally was walking on a cloud for the rest of the week.

Four days later, his band made a personal appearance at a local record shop, and played a short acoustic set.  I got to meet him in person, and when I told him I had just spoken to him on the phone a few days before he broke into a big smile and acted really, really nice.  Even though I was 25 years old, I felt like I was 12 again.  I couldn't stop giggling, and here was this gorgeous, (almost)famous rock star paying attention to me!!!

A week after that I was a the a local music awards function, and this band had been nominated as the "best new act, local".  They were playing the headlining act, and he spotted me in the crowd, and came over to talk.  Before leaving me to go up on stage, he gave me a big hug and kiss.  I was in heaven!!

Well, the band broke up within a year, and I never got to speak to this fella in person again.  But it was the closest I had ever been to meeting anyone famous in music.  What made it all  special for me, is that this fella made me feel special.

..As for the worst day, it was the day my ex and I split up for good.  But then again, maybe that was for the best too....

The Best Day:  The day my son was born.
The first day when the realization that I was no longer going to be with him each night or able to be there in the way I wanted to be.

I just saw Alicia's post right now :). We do have our moments when we are at each other's throats, but for the most part we get along quite well. :)

Worst day: November 24, 2002. No question. I don't ever want to live that one over again. There's one in October or November of 1994 that I'd like to forget also.

I've been blessed with lots and lots and lots of best days.  Most of them are from college or post-college, and a lot of them resulted from my involvement in music and theater. There's a *reason* I never bothered with drugs or drink--no chemically induced euphoria can come close to ten or twelve intense weeks of doing what you love best, with people you like, and then getting to show it off to several thousand strangers.
