Subject: Haiku

Written By: philbo_baggins on 04/26/02 at 06:15 a.m.

You've probably heard of the form: a Japanese poem, seventeen syllables precisely broken into three lines of five, seven and five syllables.  Here's one I have to offer:

I must take a walk
Using Windows 2000
Reboot takes so long

Anybody else into haiku-writing?

Phil
PS And I've just noticed that:

Amiright.com
Is making fun of music
One song at a time

...is a perfect haiku - was this intentional, Chucky?

Just a bit from me

Just try to count syllables
And think of something

Subject: Re: Haiku

Written By: Bobo on 04/27/02 at 00:23 a.m.

So what do I do?
Shall I try another one?
Not today, anyway.

Just wait a second
I seem to have gone wrong, since
I said I wouldn't

Writing these is fun
But I think I shall stop now...
Medical advice...

I think so although
I cannot remember if
This one does or not.

(In other words, it's way too big for me to check every single corner. What our T-McD's - Simpson's pun, if anyone saw it last night - does have, which is a slight diversion, is one of those childrens spaces where Nicola, even after ten years of doing it, still manages to hold a birthday party every single day for whoever requests it, along with classic McD's two-coursers and cake.) I remember the one I had for my seventh. That was a long time ago. She was about 14 at the time, if I remember.
To close, another haiku.

Boredom, depression
I sit here, alone at work
Another Monday.

The clock moves slowly,
Minutes pass through molasses.
I wish to go home.

Muscles ache madly,
I should have stayed in my bed.
Sleep tries to consume.

I wish to escape
mundainian existence.
Hope springs external.

Sadly, my break ends.
Work demands my soul once more,
Until lunch arrives...

Eternal Mondays
Never seem to end, until
IT'S TIME TO GO HOME

Home is beckoning
Its pull draws me onward, but
I can't find my keys

I search fruitlessly
Till finally I find them
Under the keyboard

No time for a fast-food run.
Ramen, once again.

A cup of ramen,
Content: Styrofoam and salt...
Nectar of the gods

A long, wet noodle
Nestled between my chopsticks
Drips languorously.

Sodium blandness,
Fails to staunch my appetite.
I want some sushi.
