Just a little known penguin fact for everyone's edification and entertainment...

The word "penguin" is the only word in the English language, whose entymology derives from Cornish. "Pen gwidn" is Cornish for "white head" and was originally applied to the Great Auk, which does indeed have a white head.

You all have my permission to swoon now from the excitement of this revelation.  ;)

Actually, this is funny- my kid just learned about penquins in Science the other day, and when I started talking about emporers, rockhoppers, and adelies, she thought I was awesome!!! Thanks for the heads up, toots!
