Graeme 'Shirley' Strachan of Skyhooks - best aussie band of the 70's by a country mile (if at least only in terms of originality and freshness) - was killed in a helicopter crash in Queensland, Australia

Bon Scott - original lead singer of AC/DC (when they were REALLY good - the early stuff from the 70's) - died in London in 1980 - sorely missed

Of course. Changing the subject slightly, did anyone see (ITV1, UK) a while back that King impersonator win Stars In Their Eyes? I thought he was pretty good myself... although with so many imposters around nowadays, whose to know whether one of those wouldn't have won instead.

But I digress... now back on topic please.

I heard about Barry White's death last night and he was only 58. On Red Dragon FM (A South Wales radio station) they have Dance Masters on Friday and Saturday nights. The DJ played You See The Trouble With Me, the remix that was out 3 years ago. I was shocked to hear about Aaliyah's death because she was only 22  :'(. Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was the best TLC member and she did a cool rapping part on the video version of No Scrubs. I also liked her collaboration with Mlanie C on Never Be The Same Again.

I remember immediately after Ms. Lopes' death, I went and listened to my three favourite TLC singles, Dear Lie and Waterfalls, and thought how much of a loss she was.

As an aside, I don't think Black Legend did a very good job of remixing You See The Trouble With Me...

Well - probably not known to a lot of you, but a wonderful singer, good-looker and a nice bloke to boot was Billy Fury...

Immensely popular in the UK in the late 50's-mid 60's, he was one of the finest conveyors of "the cover version", yet retained a style all his own...

To a lot of people (he still has a fan club!) he remains sadly missed...died of heart problems in 1983 aged just 41...

And also a mention to Bobby Darin - also robbed from us at a criminally early age (37 - also from heart trouble) - one of the first all-round "rock-era" entertainers - moving from "Splish Splash" to "Mack The Knife" to "If I Were A Carpenter" in the space of eight years...

(Hopefully) never to be forgotten, both...
