Subject: If you were a multi millionare.

What would you do with the money, would you invest it.
Would you give to charity, if you were a celebrity make up a foundation, and give money to it.  What I am asking is at the end here is, would you be generous, and a rich snob like some are, and at least use your money for a good cause.

First, I believe there are 3 types of rich people.  People that were born into Money(Kenedys Rockafeller),  people that earn It (Bill Gates), and people that are famous  or win the lottery.
If I won the Lotery, the first thing I would do is incorporate myself.  that way if I die they still have to keep paying the money.  I'd put Half in some stable investments, and with the rest I would start my own buisness.  Eventually I would do something for mankind, but only after I established my Buisness.

Good idea Screwball I mean with the investing of the money, what would you do good with your money? I mean would you at least be a little be a little generous, I'm not saying you have to be, but if you had that much money, it would awesome also to invest in foundations of your own to help others, there you could also help yourself.

I would buy several houses and apartment buildings, and rent them out to low- and middle-income families.  I would try to make the apartment buildings family-friendly by having enclosed playgrounds.

Around here landlords can pretty much charge what they want for an apartment.  They are making obscene profits, but they do not have any long-term tenants.  I would rather have a tenant living in one of my properties for 20, 30, or 50 years who cares about the neighborhood than a bunch of people who will move away when the lease is up, and never get to know their neighbors.  I believe there is far less crime in a neighborhood when everyone knows everyone else.  After all, the first thing a police officer asks the neighbors when investigating a break-in is: "did you see any strangers around recently, or anyone acting suspicious?"

There are two types of foundations I would donate to continuously:

1.  The Scleraderma Foundation - or any foundation for Auto-Immune diseases

2.  The Humane Society or SPCA (any foundation for animals and their well-being)

I would pay off my debts, my family's debts and invest the rest.  With this economy, who knows how far a million dollars will stretch?

Oh, and I would buy a big, beautiful house with 6 acres of land.  The house has to have a big workshop for my fiance and I so we can work on rebuilding our '70 Chevelle...oh, and an office/library for me.

i'm not going for perfect grammar here...this is just my wish list.

first, i'd pay off my student loan, credit cards and doctor bills, then i'd build my mom and dad their dream house, then i'd build my dream house and then i'd pay for my brother's college and my sister's mortgage and i'd get a new car (a sensible station wagon...a subaru maybe...that's the pragmatic side of me speaking).  then i'd pay for my boyfriend's college and i'd travel back to scotland because the other time i was there did not last long enough and when i've had my fill of scotland, i'd travel all over the world and hire my own personal translator to help out with all those different languages.  and after all that, i'd probably invest some and save some and then go back to work so i wouldn't get a big head from it all.

Of course I'd give some to charity :)

I'd invest some then do what ever the hell I like with the rest ;D I'd give some to my family and then make sure i can be debt free for the rest of my life :-*

Well, first things first.  I'd pay off our house, car, and any other debts. I'd make sure all the additions to our house are taken care of.  Then I'd buy a brand new Dodge Durango..(*sigh*)   ;D
Then I'd pay off my Dad's house and car.  Then I'd see what my sister wanted most---she rents, so would she want her own house, a new car, what?  Maybe both.  Then of course we'd have to look for hubby's family, and if there were anything they needed or wanted.
I'd also put a whole bunch back for my kids' educations.
(We are talking really rich, right?   ;D )
Other than that, I just don't know.  I'd want to be sure all the people I love were happy and comfortable, and want to be sure that I gave whatever I could to get them there.
I don't know about investing...hubby might, but I'm "money ignorant" when it comes to that sort of stuff.

Or, I might just blow it all on hats.

First, I would give some to my friends mom who has a ministry to help her.  Then I would pay off my bills, my moms bills and my sisters bills.  Then I would buy my sister and myself a new house (each, of course ;)).  I would set enough aside to make sure my daughter gets a good education.  Then I would hire someone to do the housework and yardwork. ;D
