Subject: Abercrombie & Fitch  controversy

Written By: Rapture on 05/24/02 at 06:29 a.m.

I seen on the news yeasterday where they are selling underwear for young kids with suggestice words on them  Thinks like 'sexy' and  'eye candy'

It is irresponsiable or A&F to put then up for sale.Especially, geared to young children! I feel it is inapproiate.

YET... if PARENTS did NOT buy them, than they would take them off the shelves.  >:(

What has happened to the innocence of our youth?

Sure it is just underwear but it shows that todays youth are much more sexually orienated than ever before!

Just a little ranting. :P

Two companies in the U.K had to withdraw clothes after being snowed under with complaints, one was thongs for 9 to 10 year olds with sexy etc on the front and the other was a tshirt with'so many boys so little time' for 3 to 5 year olds!?! what the hell the designers were thinking is beyond me,I guess they thought it was "funny"

I saw that on the news and I think it's disgusting, especially what they say on them! There are some sick people in this world, and I think a few of them work for Abercrombie & Fitch!

I don't think A&F COULD function w/o controversy.  Remember the racially discriminatory line of clothing they had out a few months ago?

This particular story is news to me, though.  It's one thing to write words of a sexual nature on adult t-shirts, but CHILDREN'S t-shirts??  OMG!  Poor, poor taste (to say the least).  I don't think I'll shop there anymore.

To A&F as a whole and other companies pertinent:

Children are sacred. Stop trying to rob them of their innocence for a profit!  >:(

Parents also have a responsibility to help protect children from such market and media.

I never like A & F. Their sales clerks are either rude or ignoring. The clothes are crappy, and the name would better fit a stuffy law firm or department store that a children's clothing store. As for the controversy, if it were my kid I sue the whole establishment for exploiting young kids. >:(

Can I get a witness? AMEN! On the one hand we're teaching them to fear normal healthy impulses in the name of "protection" and on the other we're objectifying them and forcing them to do so to each other before they even grasp that there's an alternative.

Cats are easier. Fish. Tomato plants.

I think they crossed the lline this time.  I dont think there catolog should be banned as some claim,  Although a kid brought one of thier catologs to work and I thought some of the pictures were pretty gay (guy's holding hands, girls about ready to Kiss, ect).  So its all in the eye of the beholder.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Hairspray.

I have a 4 year old daughter, and I can tell you that I won't let her wear anything like this.  It is not right.
