If you do get hooked on a PC game, it will probably take away from your time to do other things - like coming here. It takes a good amount of discipline to not get sucked in. I find myself scheduling play times so as not to disrupt/interfere with my daily routines. Yeap. That bad.  ;)

These (and a game called Castles) were the first games I bought after I upgraded from my C64 to my (Fast)286.  I still got the Perils of Rosella theme song stuck in my head.

I just spent a night playing networked games of Need for Speed III.  I forgot how much fun that game can be when you're playing someone else....

I also am totally addicted to Star Wars space combat sims (X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing Vs TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance)

Love racing games (NFS III, IV, V, and Star Wars Racer)

Only RPG I like is Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption

Loved the Wing Commander series of games.

Descent: Freespace I and the Silent Threat expansion.  Freespace 2.  Both rocked HARD.

Moto Racer I.

Quake, QII, QIII.  Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force.

Star Trek Armada I & II

Jedi Knight I & now II

Unreal and Unreal Tournament

The only PC game I play is the Sims...plus all those darned expansions to it...*hangs head*
Sorry, it's just darned addictive, especially when (like me) you make your own skins...and all the great downloads you can get from fan sites...it's just hard to shut off sometimes.. :-[

Armada I is OK, but if you're gonna play one of them, go with Armada II.  Better ships (Like the Sovereign Class), a more 3-Dimensional map.  Better formations.  Game play is nearly identical, but I found Armada II more entertaining and engrossing.  Single player missions were more enjoyable.  And I liked the multiplayer aspect more, my son and I had a lot more fun with it than with Armada I.  But I'm no good at describing why.  I just do, I guess.   ;D

I am addicted to pool at Yahoo games, does that count?   :)

Other than that, I have no hand and eye coordination for other games.  ::)

Why do you classify this as a waste? I'm curious because I'm thinking of buying it within the next few weeks. I'm not sure how much the original storyline is, but a number of the Ultima Dragons are using the DS engine to recreate Ultima V and Ultima VI (and if the engine is good enough, I might consider making Ultima IV or VII).

Anyway... games I play:

Ultima Series (all, except of UO)
Bards Tale I-III, Construction Set, and the new spin-off (when it comes out anyway)
AD&D Goldbox games (surprising, I haven't played much post-Baldur's gate, but I love the original games)
Wasteland
Fallout I, II, Tactics
Age of Kings/Conquerors
Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (with Clone Campaigns)
Civ I & II
Crusader: No Remorse/No Regret (if I could just get the first one working again)
Magic Carpet I & II
Monkey Island I-IV
Wing Commander I, II, Armada, Privateer
Dragons Lair/Space Ace
and anything old I can find, like Archon I & II, Age of Adventure, and M.U.L.E.

Most recently I've been playing Galactic Battlegrounds, since the Clone Campaigns is the last thing I've bought.

Heres My review of Dungeon Siege.  The Engine is probaly the best I've seens in an RPG, and the Graphics are Brilliant. But,  after the Glitz and glamour wares off It starts to get really repetitive.  Its Mainly Hack and slash and collect gold just like Diablo.

Another Major problem with the game, and if you ask me the games biggest problem is It is way to Linear.  In Ultima, I felt that I was actually a part of Britania, I could go anywhere I wanted and do almost any quest in any order, not so in Dungeon Siege. You start out on this main path  leading from the farmland where you start and you can't sway more than 100 yrds from that path the whole game.  Its a little better in the dungeons, but you know that the only reason youd ever explore a dungeon is to get further down the Path.

I made it pretty far in the game, I played it for over 25 Hours.  There are some problems with control issues.  The character creation is extreamly simple, but works well for this game.  Character interaction isn't Very well done, you click on a character they say there little burb and you dont get a chance to respond,  Also characters give you quest, but its not this tried and true formula:

charcter gives Quest
you go complete quest
you return to character for reward

When you complete a quest you dont get a reward and the the game automatically marks it as done.   After a while I forgot there was even a storline, and could careless what happened to the Kindom Of Ehb.  Now If they had made Arcanum using this engine, that would be a perfect RPG (IMHO).

I've not played Arcanum, but it ranks right up there with Dungeon Siege in the games that I want to purchase. Sounds to me like the major problem you're having is a lack of decent storytelling (either in plot or in the exposition of said plot). You might want to check out the Ultima adaptations into the system. I don't know whether they can improve on the development of the story, but they seem to be following the original storylines fairly well, so hopefully all will go well--that is if you don't mind replaying a game you've probably played before. :) If they can perform decently though, it offers hope for others following suite. If you're interested in checking it out, www.u6project.com or www.u5lazarus.com would be good places to start.
