Subject: Right or left?

Written By: Zella on 06/01/02 at 04:42 p.m.

Or ambidextrious? :D

I am right-handed, and I spent so much time on the computer yesterday that all the muscles in my right hand are thrashed! I am having to mouse-left which is really slowing me down.   >:(

So, any lefties here?

You have to watch that. I actually have a repetitive strain injury to my right hand that causes pain all the way to the elbow when I aggravate it. I now use the mouse with my left hand at home to give the right a rest for work.

I have something of the sort between my right shoulder and my neck--it kinds of pulls sometimes, and I can't get it comfortable. It's not from the computer tho', -- I call it an "old tax injury" 'cus about 5 years agao I waited till about Apr. 12 to do the books and messed up my shoulder muscles from having my right arm suspended above the calculator for 72 hours.... The next year I did them on the computer! ;) (now I just defer the taxes till November...) ;D

Right handed here, but I open doors and drive with my left. I guess I am a bit ambidextrious but cannot write with my left hand at all

I figured you for a lefty! ;)  As for the cone, it was supposed to be willowy and slender, but it came up short and squat. :( Hopefully tomorrow's will view better. (See what you album guys have done to me--now I have to go find a new cone everyday--what a pain! ::) )

I write, cook, bat, shoot, flip people off all right-handed. The only thing my left hand is good at is playing the fiddle.

However, I have to have the phone up to my left ear. I can't even concentrate if it's on my right. What's up with that?

Left handed, which brings to mind this saying: "If the left side of the body is controlled by the right side of the brain, then only left handed people are in their right minds." ;D

I'm right-handed.  But like Langdon, I have to put the phone up to my left ear or else I just feel unbalanced!   ;D

I'm a rightie myself.  (For some strange reason, I prefer to shoot pool left-handed.)  My mom was a leftie but she broke her left arm when she was a girl and had to learn everything righthanded.  But she still preferred her left hand…

But there's one thing that bugs me.  Why do video-game controllers favor left-handed people?  If 90% of all people are righties, then why do video-game controllers favor the 10% minority?  The Atari 2600 joystick was made for a right-hander.  Why can't they make a right-handed video-game controller for all the video game platforms out there today?

Right handed in most things, although I bat left.

Right handed, but my best friend is left handed so anything she has taught me to do I do left handed.

Ambidextrous. I do things better with my right side though, except when I play football (i.e. soccer) or ride a skateboard -I'm a leftie then. I'm also, what they called back in high school, a "Southpaw." Of course, politically, I like to attack from all sides!

I guess I'm ambidextrous...I do most stuff with my left, but I skateboard, eat, & play guitar right handed, and I'm left-and-right footed when playing soccer.

Langdon, I see many other people are also lefties with the phone.  Personally, for work I have to hold the phone on the left so I can write with my right.  Maybe it developed becase of that ?

Or maybe I'm talking out of the left side of my backside !

For me, right handed at everything except throwing a frisbee (and no, not because I'm writing at the time... ;D)

To expand on Junior's comments, left footed when playing soccer, but as Junior would agree, it's best to use both, so I can (but the left is stronger)

Write left handed, watch is on my right hand.  Phone on right ear.
Tennis - left and right handed.
All other sports - right handed (because that's how I learned watching everyone else!)

That brings up an interesting question. I write right handed, and when I wear a watch it's on my left wrist. I wonder if wearing a watch on your opposite wrist is the norm?

I think so.  Have you ever tried writing with your watch on the saame wrist as the hand you write with?  It's really uncomfortable.

I'm a rightie, but when I was in the 1st grade I broke my right arm so I had to write everything for 8 weeks with my left hand. I'm sure my teachers enjoyed that. I wear my watch on my right, although everyone else I know that is right handed wears it on the left.

I'm a Righty,as is my Mum,Brother and sister. My Dad is a Lefty. My Nephew is completely ambidextrious,he swaps the pen from hand to hand as he writes and draws and at one point used to write some of his words in perfect mirror writting which was fascinating to see.His school sent him to be tested and he turned out to be the most equally ambidextrious child they had ever tested(apparently most ambidextrious children do slightly favour one hand more)I think it's really cool and I hope he stays that way!

I'm the same way.  Write with right hand, watch on left wrist, phone (telephone, headphone) to right ear.  I think I do that so I can write while talking on the phone.  I can't concentrate when the phone is to my right ear.

Skateboarding I kicked off with my left foot.  And when I played soccer I could kick with both feet (but not at the same time - tried it a few times and always fell on my a**).   ;)

I am left-handed, except for on the computer.  I use my right hand to operate the mouse, because when I was learning, there was no room to put the mouse on the other side.

When I changed desks at work last October, my boss, thinking he was helping, put my mouse on the left.  After three hours of getting almost nothing done, I put it back on the right.

Everyone else in the family is a lefty, except my older broher, who is ambidextrous by force.  That is, he was born a lefty, but back then it was believed that all left-handed people were evil, perverted, serial killers or worse.  My brother's teachers actually tied his left hand down to force him to learn to use his right hand.  The well-meaning idiots did not want him to grow up to be a perverted serial killer, I guess.
