Subject: lying coworkers

Written By: panda on 06/12/02 at 10:24 a.m.

i found out yesterday that some of my coworkers lied to my new manager about me.  and now my new boss treats me like i'm only there to follow his orders and i get in trouble for having an opinion.  it sucks because i've never been mean to the guy and i've never given him attitude but because other people there don't like me, i have to suffer being belittled by not only them but the new manager as well.  grrr!!!!  i'm done venting for the moment.

I hate them too. Especially when I'm trying to walk and they're in the middle of the floor.

that's not what i meant and you know it, kryllith!  ha ha.  actually, i was a little miffed at first when i read this, and i was all prepared to let you know, but it passed.  but then i realized that i'm really just miffed at the people who are telling the lies, not at the jokester who's only being a sillyhead.

Well, if it's any consolation I dislike coworkers who tell lies as well, especially when they're doing it to create friction, kiss up, or place the blame on someone else. But, you have to admit that it's annoying tripping over them as well.

I feel for you Panda. I've been there myself in the past.

Best advice I can give you is to keep doing your best at work, and don't fall into the same pattern as them.  Eventually your co-workers will slip up and become known liars, and you will look better for not having stooped to doing the same.

Keep your chin up! :)

Panda

Coming the 27th of this month I will have been an office worker for a quarter of a century !  :(  (That's scary)

Every day I encounter people like you describe.  You get better at handling it but I know that doesn't make your current situation any better.

Stick with it

See if you can get your hands on a copy of Dilbert: The Joy of Work, or "How to create workplace happiness for yourself at the expense of your boss, co-workers, and those lazy stockholders who have never done anything for you"

If that doesn't make you smile, nothing will

This is one of the reasons why I'm now working a graveyard shift. Well, that, and the fact that I'm subversively annoying whenever we have a meeting - oh yeh, and I talk back to my bosses and the customers too :P As soon as they get a replacement for moi, it won't be so funny, but I may as well get the most of it while I'm at it and download as much porn as possible ;D
