Indeed. I think we're only coming here now for the quizzes.  :P

Yep, it's summer, all right, except for the Aussies and everybody else south of the equator, where it's winter.  I do check every board (except "Wanted") for new messages but I do hang out a lot (and post a lot) on the quiz board…

you're probably one of the few people I would want to check wanted this week... I've got a list of a hundred or so songs I'm trying to track down.. and if I'm not mistake, you've got a large collection of music...

People are out swimming and taking advantage of all those summery things!!! Don't worry, they'll migrate back once the cold season returns!!!  ;D

It doesn't seem like winter in Australia at the moment. It has been reaching 23 degrees celsius. I don't know what that is in Fahrenheit but it ain't cold.

What are you, nuts? Try going outside to have a gasper in the middle of a nightshift when it's almost freezing! It's b l o o d y cold here right now!

I know: I should stop smoking. Hey, I shouldn't do a lot of things.  ;D

I've noticed, especially in the 90s and 2000s forums, especially.. I hardly post there anymore, and I dont think anyone else does, either  :-/

Well, all the picture threads seem to be doing well, in all the decades. At least I have a reason to go to "in the 90s" now.... ::)

Maybe we could use a new Compound Thread to liven things up! ;)

Well, I'm certainly taking advantage of the "slow season" on these here 'boards to catch up.  I used to check in during my lunch break at work, but we've hit our "busy season" so now I'm just grabbing a sandwich and eating at my desk so as not to fall too far behind.

Though I did take several days off this week because like most places there is a one- to two-week gap between the end of school and the beginning of summer camp.  After what my "little monster" did the last time I tried to go online while she was home....

It's just a little too quiet!  Even a lot of the regulars haven't been around that much today.

I see from your profile you are from Sydney. I can see why you are cold. In sunny Queensland it is not so bad but with my job, I tended to travel all over Queensland and get use to different temperatures.

I understand now.  Queensland is to Australia as Florida is to the U. S.--it's the Sunshine State.  But unlike Florida, which is close to, but does not touch, the Tropic of Cancer, Queensland goes north of the Tropic of Capricorn.  And both are usually warm even in the winter.  But for me, where Christmas falls in the winter, I've known it to be 80° F (about 20-something° C) on Christmas Day.  But then again, I've also known it to be -10° F (about -20-something° C) on Christmas as well…

I cannot support the ramblings of my friend Reddyrules - he should have explained, he comes from Ipswich, where it is traditionally 5 degrees hotter in the daytime and 5 degrees colder at night.

As I type this it's 7 degrees here - I have a tracksuit and two jumpers on and was wearing a balaclava earlier, but took it off when I scared the cat....

I can only assume Reddyrules was talking about Ipswich daytime.....

I shall take him to task about these falsehoods he is spreading about Queensland !

I found the same thing when it was quite cold here, and I had to wear my balaclava, just substitute the word cat with brother.

crazydon :

Half of Queensland is north, half is south of the Tropic of Capricorn.  True, the weather here is normally warmer than the southern states, but across the country it varies a lot due to other factors rather than just north/south geography.

Melbourne has a reputation for being a place where you can get all four seasons in one day !  As I was last there in 1967 I can't confirm or deny that.

Aah, to have a mins 20 degree Christmas Day, or a white Christmas for that matter (for that matter have any day that was white !).  I am more used to my Chritsmas days being up around the 40 degree mark (your 100 - 105 degrees)  >:(

Imagine that on your Christmas day - oops I forgot - add 95 percent humidity as well, just for a laugh !

Okay guys, I'm going for my dictionary now. Whatever a balaklava is. I'm sure it's worth picturing... ::)

Webster's New World Dictionary:

Balaklava n. a seaport in Crimea, U.S.S.R.: pop. 1,300.

You're certainly both right --that would be scary!  :o ;D

That's good !

You would be surprised how wearing a small russian seaport on your head cankeep you warm, Zella.

You should try it sometime !  ;D
