Subject: Do you think the ranks should change?
Granted I know nothiing about creating a message board, Or how difficult It would be to do, but now that some people are approaching 2000 posts, 500 just doesn't seem so Royal anymore.
Of course it not up to me, but maybe a few more ranks could be added in between, so we could have ranks at:
2000
1500
1000
500

Am I totally wrong, or does anyone like the Idea

I'm not sure if the numbers can be changed so that they still register at higher values - Hairspray and RNR are long past them.

I know JC, I just thought that "A Whole Lot" meant that the post count overloaded at some point and couldn't cope with the high numbers any more.

Personally, I don't care if the ranks change. Perhaps there should be different levels as higher milestones are reached. Does it really matter, though? I don't know of anyone here who posts for the sake of boosting his rank.

Honestly, I really don't care about the ranks. I'd be happy even if we didn't have numbers under our names. Afterall, it's only a number. I just like to participate in the fun on this site!

Edited to add: I have no cares about rankings remaining the same or being changed. I hardly pay attention to numbers and titles anymore. I just care about you and your posts. :)

I really never cared for the number of posts nor the rankings and when I did make note of it, I did it in a sarcastic fashion. Hairspray has "a whole lot" of posts because (s)he (Hairspray does not reveal gender; we assume female) is one of the moderators and the first to ring up 1,000 posts since this board began; Rock&RollFan also has "a lot of posts" because he had well over 1,000 posts before the crash but was reverted to his original screen name and 12 posts when the board came back; he restarted his account with his current screen name, became a webpage editor and Chucky credited him with all those missing posts by giving him "a whole lot."

I actually asked the question about adding new ranks a while ago when the board first started, but most people felt 500 was good enough.. the average member takes at least three or four months to reach that many.. one of the boards I visit has two ranks, one is for everyone, one is for people who have hit 1,500.. you get a lot of stupid crap posted when you have a system like that (rewards stupidity, and in this case, the board has a lot of stupid crap)

...and I delete my posts so I don't change rank. There's no Chilly Willy penguin rank - what gives ??? If the numbers and ranks were gone, I'd log in and post away like crazy. I usually do that anyway without logging in though ::) Oh, and I did a search on the archives on me and I found out I can find some of my "unofficial" posts, which takes away the novelty of not logging in for the sake that when the thread disappears any past stupid posts of mine will not be found :-/

the archive search finds all evil.. follow the archive link at the top of the messageboard pages, and use the primative search function, you'll find all your posts (except for the past week or two, and the couple of months lost due to the hacker)
