Subject: 1st divorce linked to sept 11th.

Written By: Gis on 06/25/02 at 02:42 a.m.

Has anyone else seen this via email or newspaper??I just got sent it.Apparently the first divorce linked to sept 11th was filed by the wife of a man who left home that morning and went straight to his mistresses house where he spent the whole morning rather than his office on the 103rd floor. They did not watch the news or listen to the radio and the first thing he knew was when he switched on his phone as he prepared to leave and got a hysterical phone call from his wife asking where he was and he replied'In my office of course, where else would I be?'I would say serves him right!!

NOTE TO SELF:  Watch news before turning my cell phone back on afterwards...

*AHEM*

**************

That poor woman!  To think of how devastated she must have been when she thought her husband was dead; and to go from that to most likely having the thought in her head that she wishes he HAD been in his office...

I remember reading something similar in relation to the 2 Boeing 747's that crashed in the Canary Islands in the 70's....

A fellow aboard one of the planes was with his secretary heading for some rendezvous, when he was supposed to be going on a business trip.

He had arranged for a friend of his to send some pre-prepared postcards from his supposed destination on pre-arranged dates.

His friend didn't know he was on the planes in question and dispatched the cards as arranged.  The first one arrived a week after his widow had been advised of his death, and said "Having a good time here".....

Both of those stories are amazing, Gis and Fuss.  Oh what a web we weave!

I'm w/ Mystery Woman - those poor women.  To go from mourning the death of a loved one to hating their cheating a*s, I can't even imagine how tramatic that would be.

Both of those stories sound like urban legends to me:

I heard a story a long time before that about firemen divorcing their partners because 11/9 affected them so much.  This was a couple of months afterwards.

I agree with Chucky...that does sound suspiciously like an urban legend to me, too.  But if I am wrong, then that man certainly has some nerve and I don't blame his wife for wanting to divorce him! >:(

Fuss...I remember hearing about those planes crashing in the Canary Islands in '77.  I was not aware of the story about that man and his secretary, however.  Again...he's got (correction: had) some nerve!!!

a friend of mine was trying to convince me of this one last week, and I instantly pointed it out.. I'm a big fan of snopes and the Straight Dope, so I can usually spot BS stories a mile away now
