Subject: Has Anyone Ever Been To Puerto Rico?

Written By: Hairspray on 07/04/02 at 12:09 a.m.

I know it's quite a beautiful place to vacation in, but I wonder about living there. I've always dreamed of retiring in a small tropical island. Any thoughts? Your opinions do matter to me, believe it or not.  ;) :)

Where do you dream of retiring?

Puerto Rico . . .
You ugly island . . .
Island of tropic diseases.
Always the hurricanes blowing,
Always the population growing . . .
And the money owing,
And the babies crying,
And the bullets flying.
I like the island Manhattan.
Smoke on your pipe and put that in!
:)

Just kidding, I've been to Puerto Rico,  Its Sunny and warm, even in January when I went, no federal taxes (gas is Cheap). The tourist areas are nice,  Their are some slums though (Like everywhere), but there are American things Like shopping malls.  I don't know if it is in the same league with the other Island Paradises.

It's a piece of America. It's quite awesome when you want to get away and yet have some of the U.S. waiting for you. I have seen no clearer or bluer water and whiter and smoother sand. The natives are impressively fluent in the English language. It's comparable to the feeling of hospitality in the South of the U.S.

I was there for a few days while in the navy.  Pretty much all I remember is drinking, swimming and snorkeling (in no particullar order)...oh, and cutting my feet to shreds on barnacles.
I can't remember if they had a Sloppy Joe's bar there, the original being in Key West.  Anyone remember?

I can't remember, Its been over 4 years, but thier was a bar thier with a name similar to that, I remember you weren't supose to eat anything there because they used rat meat.  there was a  bar called the Lighthouse though, the reason I remember is the name sounds like it would be a nice place, but when w got thier it was just like a rundown metal building, would have been shut down if it was in the states.
