I've been here at a time when there have been at least 10 online and at least 10 guests. What I'm trying to say is, if these ten had all registered, plus a bunch from another time visiting, then who knows how many members we could obtain in a very short space of time. And that's what this, or any messageboard is about. The growth of popularity among visitors.

Okay, so you've caught me, now, and you all know who I am. I won't be pulling this one again.

Speaking of which, I'm having trouble keeping my User status up top for more than 3 screens. Is there a problem with it? I'm typing in my username and password as normal, and the Always Stay Logged In button. It does say "Hello, Bobo, you have... messages", but it doesn't stay like that. I've got a couple of potential solutions up my sleeves, but I'm interested to hear what you people think might be the problem before I apply my limited computer knowledge.

Bobo, do you have any programs running which delete "cookies" after so many minutes or pages?
Check your temporary internet file settings (control panel or tools/internet options, hit the general tab) for amount of disk space to use. Make sure it's at least 50.

It often does delete my settings after a couple of page views, whether this is a problem on my part, or a problem on the part of my internet, I do not know. Unfortunately, my Settings-->Control Panel does not work, due to my problems with Internet Explorer.

Well, my brother's been on, and he says that since it always works for the frontpage of the messageboard and none of these pages inside, that it might be a problem with retaining my information at your end. Steve seems to basically be implying that you can't retain my info in the pages inside, but can always keep it (after I've logged in?) from the frontpage. Grr, I just wanna get it sorted, I'll look at it later, no need to worry.

Well I tried logging in as a guest for fun, but when i tried to post it kept telling me
" Error - Invalid character in e/mail"
But it wouldn't elaborate, so I deleted any emoticons in there and it still told me that, so I got the shots with it, but there is what I had written :

What Hairspray suggested on the top of page 2. That's all it took. That's the only problem I found with it. If you're still stuck, I'll get my brother to write you a PM.

heya,
try checking your cookie settings - on preferences in both IE and NetscapeNav. make sure that your browser is set to accept cookies from all sites. check the front page 1st of all to see if you are logged in there - then it should work on the other pages after that.

A little more about cookies -
Ask your brother if he knows how to set the on-line security for your computer. There are settings which you can set to accept some or all cookies for certain sites, including this site and all of its messageboards. For all other undesignated areas, the computer can ask you if you "accept" or "block" cookies for pages or sites you encounter in your on-line travels. I have found the security settings to be excellent. Many a spy-ware "piggyback" on cookies. Think about it. ;)

That's fine, Hairspray, I think (although I'm not sure) that I can do that for myself. I always used to be able to using IE, and I should be able to pick it up using Netscape 6.
