Subject: Skydiving

Written By: Sagnastian on 07/16/02 at 03:34 p.m.

Am just curious, how many people have been skydiving?  I recently went this year in Las Vegas a week before spring vacation.  It was so fun!  What a rush!  I didn't get it on filmor a video tape 'cause it was too windy that day for the cameraman.
Anyways, am  going this friday again in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.  This time I will get the pictures and what not taken and post some pics of me skydiving here.  If you have any pics of you skydiving go ahead and post them.  Or just perhaps post your experience.
Welcome to the skydiving thread ;D

They would have to use a crowbar to pry my fingers from the doorjam of the plane... ::)

I feel for you, I don't think they could get me near enough to the doorjam to have to pry my fingers loose.  Yep, I would be the one hiding in the bathroom. ;D

Don't most planes have two?

Do they? I couldn't begin to tell you because I've never been in an airplane. That's kind of sad. ::)

Yeah, most planes have two bathrooms, but not these.  The plane I was on was very small.  There was only room for the pilot (of course), two jumpers,  and the jump masters with them,  so all and all there was only room for 5 people in the whole plane.  Seems like all the females are scared of this.  On the positive note,  am going with two females I work with are going skydieing, whoops I mean skydiving.

I'm not going to bungee-jump either! ;)

I would go skydiving given the chance, but not bungee-jumping.

...Which makes little or no sense.  Wouldn't I have a better chance of surviving a bungee jump gone wrong than a skydive mishap?

Unfortunately, I probably will never get to try skydiving due to health issues.

Not me! I'm terrified of heights. I can barely stand to look at the window when I'm flying!

getting a tat is enough adventure for me...and I have not even done that ...even though I tried to talk goldie into it today!!!!

I just have a major problem with jumping out of a perfectly good airplane...

I've got no problem with heights, just a major problem with doing anything dangerous from them. I can't ever see myself diving from any sky.

OMG!!!!!! Do you know how brave you are??  Do you see that tiny little house WAAAAAYYYYYYof in the lower right hand corner of your pix? That's the house I hit when I missed my target completely.  Boy, were the occupants surprised!  I just told them my name was Aunt Clara and asked where Sam and Darren were.

But seriously....what guts.  I could NEVER do that!

NOOO WAAAYYY... you wouldn't catch me skydiving. There was this one time, in band camp... oh wait thats another story. Actually it was in S. Padre and I was going to bungee jump but when I got to the top of the scaffolding the guy said "Just dont look down" and then I looked down :o. Well, to make a short story shorter the guy said he coudn't push me so I chickened out and walked back down the stairs :-/

No thanks!! I've seen what happens to water balloons when they fall from great heights! When you get down to the basics, I'm just a big old sack of water!  ;D

Hey I received my video of me skydiving, it's like 2 minutes long.  I gotta hook my camera up to my computer sometime and record it from the tape.  If you would like to see it, send me a PM with your name and address and I'll send it to ya.
Right now am trying to send it to a friend of mine so he can upload it on his server for better viewing and streaming.  I'll pass you the link when I get that done too.

I have always dreamed of sky (tandem) jumping---but I am too much of a chicken to probably ever get to do it beyond my dreams.  Besides with my luck we might miss the island completely and land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Just noticed this thread now that I finally have some time to get back into things...

I'd love to see your video, Sagnastian!  I didn't have one taken when I jumped, and the only pics I have are taken from the ground.  I should have had video of my first landing, though; I managed to flair the chute in time to stop my downward but not my forward momentum, and I skidded across the ground on my butt trying to stop for about 20 feet!  I had to jump again just to redeem myself!  (The second landing was perfect. ;D)

From what height did you jump?  I didn't go tandem, so I only jumped from like 3,800 feet; but it was still pretty incredible.  Freefall is amazing!  And I don't think there's a better sight in the world than looking up and seeing a full canopy open above you (even if my end cells didn't co-operate at first).

If you're ever in Vancouver, let me know.  I'll jump with ya!  :D  And for anyone who's interested, we also have some of the best bungee jumping in the world here.  A legal bridge jump!  And there's one weekend in February where it's free.  Of course, you have to jump naked...  ::)

As for TV9's whole jumping out of a "perfectly good airplane" rationale...  You should have seen the plane I went up in.  I think even the pilot had a parachute on, and he had no intention of jumping!  We could only slow down to jump speed for ten seconds at a time, because the plane started to get its stall warning...  The airplane ride was more of a rush than the jump!

Mystery Woman,
PM me your e-mail so I can send it to you.  I still haven't gotten around to upload on the computer.  Am gonna send it to quite a few people through e-mail.  I got one now, but it's kinda blurry, I recorded it from my TV onto my webcam.  That didn't turn out so good, but if ya wanna check that out,  let me know.  I'll be sure to get a better version.

I jumped my first time in Boulder City (Las Vegas), NV at 13,500 feet.  The freefall was 50 seconds long.  My second jump was in Mount Pleasant, MI and that was at 12,000 feet with a freefall of 30 seconds.  Am planning on going so I can learn to jump by myself.
