Subject: I Came Across This RUSH Article

and thought it would be an interesting read for some:

I have respect for the band and like some of their songs, even if I can barely tolerate the lead's voice in most others.

So...

Even though RUSH makes me cringe sometimes, I applaud them for staying true to their style through the decades.  :)

What a great band!  ;D
There can't be many bands who've been around so long (without line up changes)

Now, how did this thread get past me...? :P

Good article, Spray.  I'm a late bloomer when it comes to Rush, although "Moving Pictures" has always been a part of my rock collection (rock collection?), anyway....After a friend swapped me his "2112" for my only Meat Puppets CD, I was definately hooked and rushed right out to buy more of their CDs.
Geddy's voice is definately an aquired taste, sorta like horseradish, I suppose.  IMO you won't find tastier riffs and better percussion out there, anywhere, though some might come close.

You must have read my mind..."Permanent Waves" is probably my most listened-to of their albums.  I have only one live album, and still need "Signals", "Grace Under Pressure" and "Roll The Bones".

Grace under pressure is one of my favourites, only 1 bad track on it.  Roll the bones is also good but I tend to prefer the earlier stuff.  I think signals is the only rush album I don't have.

Uncanny..."Counterparts" is also my favorite Rush work from the 90's. "Cut To The Chase" and the instrumental "Leave That Thing Alone" being particularly noteworthy.
The sole Rush live album I own is "Exit, Stage Left" and have plenty of space for more!
TB, if you can get past the more progressive stuff on "2112" I recommend giving this one a spin, if for nothing more than "A Passage to Bangkok" and "Lessons", some honest-to-goodness, dick-in-the-dirt rock tunes!
Same goes for "Fly By Night" minus the prog rock.  Three tracks worth mentioning are "Best I Can", "By-Tor & The Snow Dog" and the title track.  Loud and raw with real hooks.  I find myself playing the 'air bongos' on the steering wheel while listening to these discs.
