Subject: 5 Worst Places To Live

Written By: Indy Gent on 07/31/02 at 03:29 p.m.

OK, from the other end of the spectrum, what are the 5 places you wouldn't be caught dead in? Here's my list:
1. Terre Haute, IN
2. Camden, NJ (Maybe anywhere in Jersey)
3. Los Angeles (At least not the South Central area)
4. Matarie, LA
5. Jacksonville, NC (Where my mom's sister lives at. It's nice if you can stand the sight of Camp LeJeune.)

For the past 5 years Pine Bluff, Arkansas has been listed the worst place to live in the US...so I guess I am glad I don't live there anymore!!!! ;)

Chelsea, MA (my ex lives there).

Haverhill, MA (high unemployment, high crime ect.)

anyplace where terrorist attacks have become commonplace, no matter how nice they used to be...

What made you list Metairie, LA?  That was very surprising to see since not many people know about it.  :)

I go to Metairie all the time.

Maybe it wasn't Metairie.  :-/Maybe it was a bad portion of New Orleans. But my dad and I were cruising to Louisiana following a bad experience in Texas after visiting my cousin in El Paso. We were trying to locate the French Quarter, and instead of staying on the interstate, I drove unto the Charles DeGaulle Highway on what was the dingiest neighborhood I had ever seen. We had to stop for gas in that street, and the people there were loud and boisterous. We knew it wasn't the French Quarter, so I drove back West on the Interstate a little until we stopped near another exit to asked the clerk for the French Quarter. After about 10 minutes in the Quarter, my dad felt the effects of  the mugginess and heat. We left for home a couple hours later. If I'm reading the map right, I assume Metairie is south of N.O. and you had to take the DeGaulle Highway to get it. Am I mistaken? ???
P.S.: If it isn't Matairie, then I would pick Lobdell, LA in its place.

I could not live in any hick place.

And another choice of mine would be St. George, Utah.  That place is so boring.  What people do for fun there is stand by the mall doors and tell people wether they can go in or not.  That's just down right sad.

Yeah, where you were was what we call "The West Bank."  You have to take DeGaulle to get there.

Metairie is very close to The West Bank, but Metairie is pretty up-scale in some areas.  It's a burb of New Orleans.  The cost of living there is somewhat high, so the middle- to upper-class workers live there.  The Westbank is where the middle- to lower-class workers live (if that helps any).  You nailed it right on the head - the people there are VERY loud and boisterous.  They're not as loud and boisterous as the people in Chalmette, LA.  Good thing you didn't take a wrong turn and end up there.  :)  We call them "Chalmations" down here.  Draw your own conclusions.

Thanks for the info, Natmc78. :) And I wouldn't want to live in Chalmette either. ;)
We did have to stay at a Lobdell motel, which made us less lucky.  ::)

yah, It used to be a great city to live in, now I am not so sure.  They've got major problems, and expense is only the tip of the iceberg I'm afraid..

That's what I felt about Washington D.C., when I went there. The better parts of it are too expensive, and the rest of it is dingy looking. Still is a great place to visit.  :)

What's wrong with Daytona, other than it's in Florida? And I don't know about Dover, either.
