Subject: Favorite Board Games That You Still Play

Who's the King of Monopoly?  Certainly not me!  I have the game (I'd like to know if there's a household that doesn't!!!) but I don't like it....so we rarely play it.

What we do play:
Yahtzee
Aggravation
Life
Clue (not a fave anymore, but still play it)
Euchre (pronounced You-Ker, a card game)
Kismet (like Yahtzee, but with colors)

I'm certainly not the King of Monopoly, but when I understand it well enough to play, then I do alright.

We still play the board games that we have, most of which are falling apart.

I don't know Yahtzee, what is it?

Yahtzee is a game that comes with a scorecard that you fill in, and five dice.  You roll the dice and try to get as many 1s, 2s, 3s, etc. that you can.  You also try to get 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, full house (three of one number and two of another), small straight (four in a row), a Yahtzee (five of a kind), etc.

It's really fun, if you enjoy that kind of game. :)

I think I stopped liking monopoly when I was six and my sister would have tantrums if she didn't win ;-)

Don't have a huge amount of time for board games now, but old favourites were Risk and Diplomacy - though my elder son is getting into chess now, so I'm trying to get him up to a high enough standard so my father can take over (dad's kind of good at chess)

...I do play Yahtzee on the computer occasionally

Sounds like the Yazoo song
"For the times we've had I don't want to be - the King of Monopoly"

;-)

We have Monopoly but we don't play it because as adults we have found the same things with our children as we found when we were children...it causes too many fights, and once someone gets in front, there is very little chance of them losing.... :(

Trivial Pursuit - I have a number of different sets of cards, including a music version (go figure...)

Yahtzee

Mastermind

I wish, I wish, I wish.....I still had a game called Stratego - it was simplistic military strategy game

Alas, it is gone...... :(

I love playing board games.

Monopoly is a decent game, but it takes way too long to play.

My favorites are:

Scattergories
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Life
Taboo
Balderdash
I used to love playing Battleship, but I haven't played in a while

I remember Stratego - a friend of mine had it when I was at school... it's also reminded me of two other long-play board strategy games: Kingmaker and The Election Game (the latter was an old out-of-print-twenty-years-ago UK General Election strategy game - huge amounts of fun for a politically-oriented family)

Careers, King Oil, Scotland Yard, Monopoly (actually, I have Catopoly), Past Lives, Bonkers, and a whole slew of more modern games that we've started playing in the past couple of years.

I still have most of my games from when I was a kid, but I now have no one to play them with :'(

My favorites are:

Trivial Pursuit
Park n Shop
Green Ghost
Kingmaker (aka: the Medieval Game from H e l l )
Broadside

My two most favorite games were Mousetrap and Silly Safari, but my mother threw them away....

When we were 16, my best friend and I made our own version of Life, (we still have it) created our own 3 dimentional board etc., and called it "Strife." Typical entires: "stoned again -- lose one turn"; "condom broke -- add baby girl" etc. etc. Ah to be 16 again! ;D

I usually play board games with my sister.  We usually play Monopoly (my favorite), Scrabble (another of my favorites), and Sorry.  She recently got Deluxe Monopoly for Christmas last year.

Another Kingmaker player!!  Tell me, did you ever have one of those games that just never finished (like after several days solid where you ended up chasing the last couple of potential monarchs who were desparately running round the board trying not to get cornered by opposing armies)?

I love board games but unfortunately I don't really have anybody to play them with.  No relatives live nearby and the only board game I can really play with my husband is Scrabble.

On the rare occasion when I am able to get together with the rest of my family, we play a lot of board games, including Scattergories (a favorite) and Balderdash (fun!).  I know there are others that I'm missing...those are just the ones that come to mind. :)

Formula De.  Formula One racing game, up to 3 laps around the track, keeping track of things like tire wear, what gear you're in, etc.  Fun as hell when the last lap comes up and everyone's risking all the points they can on every turn to try and get out in front.

I like monopoly, because it has the ability to pit family members against each other in a capitalistic battle to the DEATH...I tend to get a little...*ahem*...cutthroat when I play...I might not be the King...but I'll find the King and rob him in the parking lot afterwards...

I hear that! I always loved Trivial Pursuit but no one likes to play it. (I think that is because I have a head for a lot of useless knowledge). I always like Life too. We do play a lot of games but it is usually computer games or card games.

I still have Operation and play it everyone once it while.  I found it at a thrift store a while back and It's the French version!  I thought that it was cool to have a board game in a foreign language.

I also like trivia games, the main one being Rock N' Roll Trivia, which is basically just like Trival Pursuit.

My favorite game growing up though was Stop Thief.  That game was so kick ass in '82 or '83.

We still like Sorry, Yahtzee, Axis & Allies, Stratego, Trivial Pursuit, Dukes of Hazzard, Headache.
