Subject: My vacation...

Written By: ChuckyG on 09/12/02 at 09:39 a.m.

technically, I'm still on vacation, but I have class tonight, and didn't want to go straight from the Cape (Cape Cod that is) to class, so I left yesterday.. I'll probably spend the rest of my vacation hanging around the house, maybe do some more work on the websites.. and finish reformatting one of my computers..

but, while down the Cape.. I did:

a whale watch, not terribly exciting, they didn't really get too close to the boat

a duck tour, ok I guess.. a little brief, and not really a lot to see in the Hyannis bay

Welfleet drive-in, saw Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Austin Powers Goldmember (for the second time on both).. saw Signs earlier that day (disappointing) and also did the flea market there earlier in the day..

walked around the sand dunes in Province Town.. watched the sun set.. climbed inside a light house.. (always fun for someone scared of heights)

and the highlight I suppose, was Monday.. I went into a used CD store called Spinmaker in Hyannis.. they had an entire wall of CDs for sale for $4 a piece.. I walked out with around 40 CDs or so.. cool weird stuff I would normally never buy (but boy, how could I live without the Twins soundtrack).. guess the tourist thing isn't my bag after all..

next year I bring my bicycle and ride around the bike trails.. hopefully I'll have lost more weight by then too (I did lose a few pounds this week, if only I can maintain that trend)..

Aren't used CD stores just the coolest?

Thanks for sharing, Chucky.   :)  Sounds like you had a good time.  And congrats on shedding a few pounds.

It's great finding music at a bargain, esp. on vacation!  Every place I travel I usually venture into a local record/cd shop and come out with a bagful.  :)

Great time you had on vacation, or so it seems, Chucky!

Cool beans that you managed to pick up the CD's, too!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time.  It's good to know that there's life beyond the board!

Speaking of vacations, I spent mine at home with my wife getting acquainted with our newly born son.

Quoting:
I totally envy you. Did you say, drive-in? Cripres! That's all there is to it, man. One of these daze I have to make a pilgrimage to one myself (I haven't been to one since... I forgot...)

Tarzan Boy
End Quote

yeah, there's one drive-in left on the Cape.. there's two in service still near my house in Central Mass. actually.. the one on Rt 146 I believe is adding an additional screen to meet demand.. so there's a small upswing in viewership at them I guess.. there actually used to be two drive-in's in my town growing up, but they got torn down during the late 80s.. turned into a Walmart and a BJ's..

man.. I loved having a week off, but the first week back is such murder (everyone held off on asking me to do stuff for a week, so I now I have twice as much waiting for me)..

Oh How I envy you also. I loved going to Drive-In theatres. Unfortunately there is none within cooee of where I live, and you have two in your hometown. Lucky you.
