Well, this is surely to show how much this board has gotten around over the last year, isn't it? And that's truly a great thing.

I think it's a great sign.. especially since I don't force people to register like a lot of messageboards out there.. it's a good sign that it's mostly people who want to be members, and not just because it's the only way they could post something on the site
I'm only giving out the $1,000 because 80smusicfreak offered to donate the money for the cause.. >grin< where' the check?

Just thought I'd revive this thread, considering we hit the 2,000 mark today - and the winner is "gkpyle", lol... :-)
Interesting to note that it took 11.5 months to get to 1,000 registered members on these boards (about October 15, 2001 - September 30, 2002), and only another 5.5 to get to 2,000 (September 30, 2002 - March 18, 2003)! That means over the last 6 months, there have been twice as many registrants, so the pace is clearly accelerating...

wow, thanks for crunching those numbers.. I guess that explains why the software tends to be freaking out occasionally.. >grin<
It's actually not as impressive as the page view count used to be.. the page views for inthe80s used to double every four months. Incidently, according to google, they gave inthe00s a better page rank number (a 7!) than my other sites (almost all of which are 6's).
Considering all that, the messageboard has yet to be mentioned in any press mentions of any of my sites. I guess this is becoming one of the great "hidden" sites of the Internet.
The really cool thing is, that despite the occasional troll, we still have yet to force people to register to post.. there aren't many large message forums left that can even boast that. Without Hairspray, I doubt we could claim that.
let's hope the next 1,000 come in 3 months >grin<

Oops - been away for about a week. Thought I'd revive this thread yet again, as it seems we hit 3,000 registered users a couple of days ago (now at 3,007 as I post this). So, let's see - that means it took exactly 4 months (March 18 - July 15) to gain the latest thousand. Again, still accelerating, but apparently short of your goal, ChuckyG... :(
But nevertheless, congrats again! :)
