Shoot, I'm very close to the stupid storm.  Most of my family and friends have had to evacuate.  We've barely recovered from Isidore.

Well, fortunately, it just looks like we'll be getting some heavy winds and a few inches of rain.  To the West of us is where it'll really do some damage.

You be safe too!  I'll be thinking of you and Lester.

;)

We get many storms here, we call them typhoons, so I know how it feels.  In fact, we had a fairly strong one pass us just a couple of months ago (winds gusting more than 150-170 mph).  I hope everyone fairs well and the storm doesn't hit as hard as expected.  But always prepare, many didn't for our last storm and when it intensified it was already too late.

Boy do I remember those days!

It's never fun going through any kind of a storm.  Like Islandgirl said make sure you prepare and don't forget to stock up on those canned goods!  Hopefully this one will miss you all!

I hope that it's not too bad at your house either, Natalie. This makes me glad that I live far enough north that I don't have to worry too much about hurricanes!

I hope you are all safe  ;)

Better yet, move to Australia.  Here we have the same thing, but like Bart Simpson's water down the plughole episode, they go round the other way, and are called cyclones.

Mostly further up North from where I am though.

Batten down your hatches people.  :)

I hope that WL, SS, Nat & all y'all that are down that way are safe.  You're in my thoughts.   Hurricanes are no fun.  :(  In '96 Fran flooded my wife's mother's basement (where Mrs. M's bedroom was - we weren't married yet) with 3 feet of water & crap and she lost practically everything - clothes, furniture, photos, yearbooks - all destroyed.  It took me over an hour to get back to my apartment as trees were down all over the roads (I lived 10 minutes away).  Both of us (as well as most of the city) were without power & hot water for nearly two weeks.  We live 2 hours inland.

I don't wish that type of disaster on anyone.  I pray that y'all are safe.  :'(

Well, if y'all haven't been updated lately, fortunately Lili was downgraded to a Cat. 2 by the time she made landfall.  Now she's a Cat. 1, and the damage has been far less than what they were predicting.  Someone must've been praying really hard.   :D

Even as a Cat. 1 or Cat. 2 storm, that's still some heavy weather.  I hope everyone stays safe till it's gone.  All I'm likely to get up here in the northeast is a lot of rain, but that's enough to ruin my weekend plans.

As storms go, Lili was pretty tame by the time she reached this far inland. We had some pretty strong winds and heavy downpours, but Isidore was much worse as far as rainfall is concerned. We had some strong winds last night that blew over a couple of trees (not at my house, but across the road) and scattered limbs and leaves over my yard. Still, much less of a monster than expected, for which I am grateful.
