Written By: Hairspray on 10/12/02 at 10:33 a.m.

I placed this post here because his talent spans approx. 4 decades.

I'd like to know how you guys and gals view this very original and interesting artist.

His songs - My faves include but are not limited to:

Fantastic Voyaye
Ziggy Star Dust and the Spiders From Mars
Space Oddity (Ground Control to Major Tom)
Young Americans
Underground
Modern Love
Let's Dance
Fame
Tracks from the movie "Labyrinth"

What are yours? ? ?  ;D ;) :)

We all know who's going to be on this thread like a shot as soon as she logs online, don't we, Hairspray?

My favourite song of his is Ashes, but I'm also a fan of Space Oddity.

I like his music. I probably don't listen to half as much as I should. He's certainly been around a long long time. His isn't a style that I look at as much as I should.

Oooh, and I forgot to say that he is very original and interesting!

I liked Bowie's old stuff, but he has really slid since he joined Tin Machine (yucko!) and hasn't recovered yet.  :-X

I never really got into him. Don't get me wrong, I had plenty of friends and even a wife that thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, and he is very talented, I was just never into his......hmmm....style. ??? All in all though. I'd have to say he's a very original and interesting artist. (I'll bet you're thinking "what a SMART A$$")

I'm not a big fan either.  My strongest memory is from the early-seventies, the Ziggy Stardust days.  On a Christmas program sang The Little Drummer Boy with Bing Crosby.  That seemed so bizarre at the time.  Now, I don't think they're careers are that dissimilar at all.  They did the song good, by the way.

David Bowie is one of the main reasons I want to pursue music as a career.

I want to be a hero... just for one day.

I've always liked David Bowie's music.

Some of my favorites are:

Fame
Let's Dance
This Is Not America (his duet with The Pat Matheney Group...song was featured in the movie The Falcon & The Snowman.)
Dancing In The Streets (his duet with Mick Jagger)
China Girl

He is indeed a very interesting individual...creative and eclectic!

Some of his stuff I love; some I can't stand...

My favorites are:

Life on Mars
Lady Stardust
Rebel Rebel
Man Who Sold the World
Suffragette City
Rock 'n' Roll Suicide
Word on a Wing

His liner notes on Diamond Dogs once inspired me to write a very bizarre poem... (They glided from the shadows that were yesterday/ And emerged into the screaming silence of now.... ) etc. etc. ::)

Hey T.B., would your wear your glitter jumpsuit to M.M.? ;D
