Subject: Favorite Christmas Commercial

Written By: southernspitfire on 11/05/02 at 01:33 a.m.

I know this is early....but Christmas comes earlier every year.  I just saw my FAVORITE Christmas commerical (already) just now on tv...

It is the little redheaded girl that walks down the hall into the living room and there is a silver sports car and many other nice presents.....Her parents walk in behind her and say..."Those must have been some cookies you left for Santa....and the little girl says...." I didn't leave him cookies....I left him cheese"

I am so glad they brought this one back again this year.....it has to be a classic!!! ;D

Indy Gent's gonna hate me for this, but it has to do with those Coke polar bears.  When I was a kid, I loved those Norelco commercials with Santa riding on their shaving heads…

There's this Hallmark commercial from the 80s that always got me. It's Christmas Eve and a young boy is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his older brother, who has been away at college. The family is all gathered together when a snow storm suddenly hits, making the roads impassable. The family gather around the fireplace, hoping that he will arrive safely. It begins to get late and the little boy is very sad that his brother won't be there for Christmas. The family decides to move ahead with the holiday celebration and ask the boy to sing "O, Holy Night", a carol he always sings with his brother. The young boy begins to sing the carol solo, with a sad look on his face. Suddenly, you hear another voice singing along with the boy. His face lights up as his brother enters the room, all covered in snow. The rest of the family begin to cry as they continue with their Christmas duet! I wish they would show that commercial again this Holiday season! :)

Hey---I saw that one last night too...were you watching Everybody Loves Raymond or Still Standing??  ( I can't remember which of the two it was when I saw it!  ::)) LOL!

I LOVED this one that was on last year (*hope* it comes back!)..it's for Circuit City (or somewhere like that) and the people are shopping and the robot is trying to convince this one guy not to buy something--"You can't have her---I love her!"  The other employees tell the robot to let her go, and he says "Weeping,weeping".....anyway, I think it's hillarious.  ;D

Dumber yet-----years ago, there was one commercial that for some reason always made my "kid-mind" know it was Christmas.  It was so dumb too--all it was was a white gloved hand that was wrapping a Christmas present. All they showed (that I remember) was the hand rubbing it's fingers down the transparent Scotch tape.
Told ya it was dumb!!  But to me, it always made me know it was Christmastime. ::)

No, I don't hate you for loving the Coke bears. I love those myself. My favorite Christmas ad is the Staples commercial where the lazy slob yells over the store's intercom to "Get the black chair!" (I also like the robot one.) ;)

There is the one where the whole family is in bed and the son comes home from college.  He makes coffee and wakes the family.  I cry everytime I see that one.

Whatever happened to that girl, anyway? She was also in the Aunt Jane's pickle commercial when she asks her dad if he want the pickle on his plate. He shows it to her and she says "Thank you" and eats it anyway.

I also like the commercial for Cheerios, with the grandmother talking to the baby and using the Cheerios bits to show the baby how the family is scattered around the country, but how they will always be together at Christmastime! Sweet!  :)

This isn't exactly a Christmas commercial but...

My brother and I were talking about Christmas Carols the other day, and I was reminded of the one that goes "It's the most wonderful time of the year..."

Both of us immediately thought of the Staples commercial where the dad is dancing around and shopping.  It always starts showing around late July/early August, which makes you wonder...until the end of the commercial when you see the two extremely sad kids, and the announcer tells you about the "back to school" sales.... ;D ;D ;D

I've always liked the Coca-Cola Polar bears, especially the one with the seal who returns the ball to the cubs.
