Subject: Great Love/Suduction Song

Written By: Race_Bannon on 11/18/02 at 03:26 a.m.

What song do you think is a great love (not heartbreak, please) song, or one that you make sure plays towards the end of an evening with someone you want to be with?
My choice is "More Than This" by Roxy Music.

Good topic Race!

Back in my teen years it was always "You're My Everything" by Santa Esmeralda.  Then in my 20s it was "Never Say Goodbye" by Bon Jovi....recently it was "Thank You For Loving Me" also by Bon Jovi but since October 8th, and the release of the new Bon Jovi album "Bounce" I gotta go with "All About Loving You"....

This one was never released on the radio, but it works for me.  It is Mark Collie's cover of Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash.  Mark's version is much slower and definately sexier....

Ah....Used to play that one at the end of the night many a time when I DJed an 80's night... :)

I'd also recommend any of the following Depeche Mode songs: "Somebody," "I Want You Now," "Stripped"

Kind of, but it sounds so sexy, just that openig keyboard and drum sound makes me want to nibble necks. The whole album is great to run.  I have to note too that I loved the Killing Moon by Echo and The Bunnymen as well, I saw them in concer in '86 and it was amazing, they were my favorite band from '83-'90.

... but "More Than This" is kind of a heartbreak song in itself. It's the sound of the song that is miss-leading. The whole Avalon album oozes seduction, really. I'm going to break the rules and name DeMode's Black Celebration album: "World Full Of Nothing" is in the same category as "More Than This" ;)

As far as single songs go, I'd have to go with Echo And The Bunnymen's "The Killing Moon." Ah, but it's Chris Isaak's "Can't Do A Thing (To Stop Me)" with interludes of the instrumental version of "Wicked Game" from the soundtrack to Wild At Heart that would top a romantic night.

Sorry. I have to break the rules so inadvertently.

I just thought of a couple of lurid songs (not to be confused with "love" or "seduction"...). Japan's "Transmission" and "Suburban Love" from their 1978 Adolescent Sex album. I guess they'd go hand-in-hand with the question: "What is the strangest place you've had sex?" Hehe.

David Foster - For Just A Moment

This was the Love Theme from St. Elmo's Fire, and the version with lyrics is just beautiful.

How about "Always and Forever"?

And Sting has a song called "A Thousand Years" on the CD "Brand New Day" that is a declaration of love.

For seduction, I'd say almost everything by Andreas Vollenwieder.  Most of it's instrumental, and it sets the mood just right....
