Subject: What would you call it?

Written By: Criz on 11/24/02 at 10:55 a.m.

Picture the scene: You're a singer. You're making the kind of music you love and listen to. Whether your in a band or a solo star you have to make a big choice. You have to choose the name of your first album. What would you call your album and why?

Mine would have to reflect something from my all time fav band so I'd choose lyrics from a Smiths song. It's show people where inspiration has come from and how much their music means to me. I'd probably go with a simple line like 'Why pamper life's complexities' from 'This Charming Man' (see avatar atm ;)). I might change the lyric but this group have made such an influence over me this past year that say I did live this dream (which i wouldn't cause I'm not that good a singer!!) I'd have to name my album something along the lines of Smiths lyrics :)

So think about it and tell us about yours :)

Great topic, Criz.  Really makes one think.

I think I would call it "Gift of Grace".  It would be Christian music.  The name would reflect my feelings on salvation.

Oh! When I first saw the title of this topic, I thought Criz was bringing back Race Bannon's Hairspray-deleted thread! :o ;D ;D :-X

I'd probably make some kind of soft-rock album (my ears are sensitive to rap and hard rock/metal so this is the music I listen to on a regular basis).

I don't have good idea for a name, other than "Nail Clipper" :P  I guess that'll define the percussion (it sounds like the clicks of the nail clipper cutting the nails)  ;D

Twit!? I knew it! You bad bad boy! How long have you been hiding here under an assumed name? I suspected a long time ago, but wasn't sure until now.... Welcome back, belatedly -- always need more Arieses! :D

My band, which I'm in the process of starting (we've got two members... all we need now is a singer and rhythm section and some songs and equipment and we're set!), will be named Halfconscious.  We're an eclectic group, but we're on the mainstream side of alternative rock.   Our first album, No One Is Special, will be an underground hit on the strength of the "All the Same" and "Chrissy Has Issues," a song written by keyboard player Ken Munson about an ex-girlfriend.  The second and third album will continue to expand their audience, but the band will really hit it big in 2006 with the title track off their fourth album Talent.  At a time when alternative rock seemed to have passed its peak, Halfconscious will bring it back crashing onto the charts.  Unfortunately, after finishing only one other album after their breakthrough, the band will break apart in the fall of 2009 at the height of their fame, mostly due to creative differences between band leaders Munson and guitarist Lindsay Jones.  Jones will start a new band, Statuette, the following year, while Munson tries for a solo career.  Neither will really take off, and all original band members will reunite, making a fairly impressive comeback record and tour in 2013.

Lol Zella! I thought of having quite an ambigious title to see whether people would be intruigued and therefore read the topic ;D

And it really had nothing to do with the aforementioned banned topic!

Well...

You all probably know of my obsession with hairspray in the 1980's (hence my name ;) ).

I'd have a couple with awesomely styled 80's hair on the cover. Their hair would be mohawked to some degree.

Album Title: "As Stiff As It Gets"

;D  8)

The album cover would probably have to be a couple of tins of Double Diamond lager (or anything else representing double-D's - I'll leave that to your imagination).  Why?  Because it's a pair o' Ds <groan>

...and I guess that would be about the standard of humour ;-)

Kryllith would be proud....I miss him.... :'(

Mine would be "Stupid Little Rat-Faced Git" by the Ken Klean-Air System.

My album would definitely be a mix of MANY different styles of music...I love all kinds of music.

For this, it would simply be called "Everything".

OR

Considering the stupid sense of humor my friends and I have, it would be something stupid...

We've already decided on our band name as "Cold Toast" (we were going with "The Somethings" but it's already taken)

I think we chose "Yard Gnomes" as our album name.

Yardgnomes would be an excellent band name, though...

Reminds me: I was briefly in a band aeons ago which was named by its founder the "Gary Williams Band" (no prizes for guessing his name ;-)), or GWB for short... except that the GWB acronym turned into "Great Wobbly Buttocks" which is what the band generally got known as :-)

I figured I'd call my second album "Hideous Twit"... that way I can build upon the first.

"Understated" has a great ring to it... (grammatical joke: you could call your first album "Litotes" and see if people get it)
