Subject: What song/songs really touch you?

Written By: The_Ghetto_John on 12/08/02 at 06:40 p.m.

Music is a powerful thing, music comes from the soul and usually in return touches others. I want to know what song/songs touch you or have real meaning to you.

A song that has real meaning to me, is Epiphany, by Staind.
The song just seems to come out and speek directly to me, Staind is my favorite band, and help me get over certain things.(to personal to get into) but Epiphany is one of alltime favorite songs, and to this day im still not sick of it, and i probably never will , or atleast until the spring, when the new staind album comes out, there could be a new song that touches me even more, but until then yep its gotta be Epiphany.

Well, there are a lot of them lately. There is a song called "If I Could" by a group called 1927 -- I cannot listen to it without getting tears in my eyes. Ditto for "Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden.

U2's song Pride(in the name of love) about Martin Luther King Jr. is incredible.

Many songs but since I just got home from a Pearl Jam concert and their latest recording was just released so I will say Love Boat Captain.  It's a song about the 9 people that died at a PJ show 2 years ago in Europe.  It's about recovery.

Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi is a song that touches me in that special way...it made me bawl the first time I heard it and still has that effect on me to this day (but now it's only when I hear them do it live)...an absolutely AMAZING song...to me...probably not to you...but it's the ONE that hits me that way....

More bouquets for 1927 from this end. However, the one that stings me the hardest is:

Eternal Flame - The Bangles

Also:

Still the Same - Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band
Four Walls - Cold Chisel
Photographs and Memories - Jim Croce

I agree with you...these songs are touching.  Especially Who Wants to Live Forever.  I get tears in my eyes every time I hear it.  I makes me think of Freddie. :'(

One that gets me every time I hear it is First Love by Stryper.

There are so many that I love. Some I listen to and it just brings tears to my eyes. I would probably be here all day listing them. However, the one album I can't listen to anymore is Journey's Greatest Hits. I love it but it is really painful for me to listen to it. I usually end up listening to it when I am depressed.

"Don't Answer Me" - The Alan Parson's Project

It's so nostalgic of days far, long gone.

Only in memory can we return...

And as time continues to pass, the path becomes foggy and the memory never as clear again...

I was spending some quiet time this past weekend, remembering someone I cared about who has passed away.  I was listening to Monsoon, and when the song "Indian Princess" came on I found myself bawling my eyes out.  It sounds so much like what my friend's widow is feeling right now.  Her pain is still new.

"She sits all alone by the window
Watching the world rushing on;
Knowing she'll never be with them
For her the laughter has gone.

Due to her life full of nothing
Missing the man that she loved,
His death has made her a prisoner
Now she waits for his call from above.

ooo Indian princess
Beautiful dancing alone,
Nobody knows your sad secret
Just left on your own.

Every evening the curtains close early
She's waiting for her darkened room;
For each night she dreams of her husband
And they dance by the light of the moon.

ooo Indian princess
Beautiful waiting alone.
Nobody knows your sad secret
To them you just dance on your own.

He leaves her at first light each morning
She promises it won't be long
She returns to her place by the window
But one day she'll be gone..."

From now on, every time I hear that song I'll be thinking of them.

I'm Not the One - The Cars
Glory - Original Soundtrack by James Horner w/BCH  you try listening to this without feeling something]

There's probably others i can't remember.  Who Wants to Live Forever is a good one, though.  So's Don't Answer Me.

thats cool guys, and im sorry  about your friends widow, that really is sad. But i need to add to this topic with one more song and if you have kazaa or morpheus or somin, you hear it out.

No Regrets: By Robbie Williams

The song is about a relationship gone sour through mistakes, Miscommunication, and all around failure to love. Robbie is good at these songs and its really a beautiful song, and eventhough im perfectly happy with Lauren, I still think of Erin when this song plays. And the funniest thing is Laurens last name is Gray, and Erins last name is White there names are quite similar, and everynow and then i have MIXED THEIR NAMES UP but this is a song, that helps me be content with who i have, and also content with who i no longer have.

I know you've heard this before, and I know everyone here hates Mariah Carey, but anyway.....

"One Sweet Day".  I liked it when it 1st came out as a hit (and I 1st heard it when traveling w/my dog), but in a month my old dog fell apart and had to be put down.  By then it was #1 and would be for many weeks.  It so matched the events and the sorrow.  I can never get over that or think of anything else when I hear this song.   :'( :'( :'( :'(

Thanks John, she was fantastic and as perfect as I can ever imagine.  I spent (relatively) alot of effort training her to be a good citizen, too.  I guess between the time I spent on her early (including shows), her spirited and merry but fearless temperament, and her excellent manners, I was proud of her and loved her to death as a real friend and fear I can never have that quite again.  (But I do hope!)

About 2 years later my beloved cat died and left me w/no animals.  I have a pup now, finally.

Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic- The Police

This is the song I used to ask my wife out on our first date, and also the song I used to ask her to marry me. There's a part that goes:

I would like to call her up
1000 times a day
And ask her if she'd marry me...CLICK

And I stopped the tape. She didn't get it. So, I had to come out and actually propose, and I got down on one knee, pull out the ring...and her mom walks in. Her mom is native japanese, and very intimidating. So, I quickly hide the ring and say, "You know the drill. Shhh." Wendy's mouth drops as she enters a catatonic state for the next 30 seconds while her mom is in the room. Then, after she leaves, I say

Wendy, the last 4 years have been the best of my life
Now, will you make me the happiest man on this green earth and be my wife?

She said yes.

And now, Every little thing is officially OUR song.

its "The Way I Feel" by 12 stones.

the song is about having a bad day, and letting God, help you through it. But the song has a different meaning to me. It is really making me think about who i want to be with, but at the same time i dont want anyone to get hurt. So i dont know it just sucks being 17
