Let's see, some quick addition is required :
2 consultations per day time 2 cents = 4 cents
Times 7 days per week = 28 cents
Times 52 weeks per year = $ 14.56
Times 30 years = $ 436.80
Add that to the lots of 5 cents I don't remember ($ 436.80 divided by 2 times 7) = $ 1528.80

I have several Peanuts collections, and noted the price increase over time - I think Sparky realised this detracted from the timelessness of the strip and later reverted to 5c.
