Not the fun, animated kind, the mean ol' Christmas ruining kind. Last night our garage was "hit" and I am reminding everyone... don't keep cell phones, wallets, Christmas packages etc. in your car. Smash n' Grab, that swiftly spreading anti-mart, goes everywhere. 'Tis the season.

Tell me about it, that happened to me 2 years ago. I stupidly had left my stuff on the backseat and didn't even think to cover it up with a blanket or anything. I had everything stolen except for my pipe band uniform and some Irish CDs, lol.

I have to say that this is prevalent this time of year…so watch out! I've never had it happen to me, but one day during Christmas season, it just might! I make sure I hide everything in my vehicle during Christmas when I'm Christmas shopping and try to keep everything out of plain sight, and lock my vehicle. You never know what's out there. So watch out!

Matter of fact, I don't own a car nor do I drive, but I do ride around with people and store the stuff in their cars…

Oooops. Sorry, I forget that some discussions predate some of our members. I live in an apartment building and share a communal garage. Many cars were hit, but mine was not, largely due to the lack of anything of any value whatsoever inside of it. Thanks for the well wishes though.

There's a trick my brother uses every year, which is great if you are shop at a mega-mall, and want to put packages in the car to avoid being overloaded. After ending up with two or three bags he puts them in his trunk, then he gets in the car and "drives away".
He goes around the block, then makes sure to park in a different spot in the parking lot. A casual theif will think it's a different car, and empty one. And one would assume a professional would go straight to the store, or for your wallet.

Well, then, I guess it's especially important for you to lock their cars when you store your stuff in them! It's bad enough getting your car broken into, let alone someone else's!
