Subject: The tune that will not go away...

Written By: shazzaah on 12/13/02 at 08:15 p.m.

What are some tunes that get into your mind and just will not, no matter what you do...go away? Maybe if you post it here it will leave your brain and (teehee) get stuck in someone elses when they read it...

For me lately it has been Eminem's "My Name Is"... And it is always just the chorus.

This is the song that doesn't end
Yes it goes on and on my friend
Somebody started singing it
Not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it
Forever just because....

Every time I turn on the radio, no matter what station I have it on, they seem to be playing that one by Jennifer Lopez and company....

"I'm still Jenny from the Bronx.  Used to have a little, now I have a lot, I'm still Jenny from the Bronx..."

AAAUUUUGGGGHHHHH!  I wouldn't mind if it was a realsong.  But all it is is a buch of  one-liners strung together.  No melody, no chorus, no intelligence.

Even away from the house, I get it.  It's being played all over the place in the stores too.

Let me give you Steve Allen's recitation to the words of "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", when he hosted an episode of "A&E's An Evening at the Improv" in 1990, with comments by Steve put in parentheses:

I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no satisfaction,
Cuz ("c-u-z, cuz") I try,
and I try,
and I try,
and I try,
but I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no, I can't get no, I can't get no,
no no no no,
Hey hey hey,
That's what I say,
But I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no satisfaction,
cuz I try and I try and I try and I try,
But I can't get no satisfaction.
When I'm watching my TV,
and that man comes on and he tells me
how white my shirts can be,
well he can't be a man,
cause he don't smoke the same cigarettes as me.
And I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no ... girl with action
("Schmuck finally thought of a rhyme.")
cuz I try, and I try, and I try and I try and I try and I try,
but I can't get no satisfaction,
I can't get no, no no no no,
Hey hey hey, that's what I say,
I can't get no satisfaction.
("Now don't you try to tell me they don't write great lyrics these days. Thank you very much.")

They've played that ad three times in the last 20 minutes over here. That's just excessive! Are they trying to put us off buying things ever again?

Ah yes, that other track that won't go away - Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. Give me an expletive deleted break *angry face*.

I love the version of that by the O' Jays, my mom had the 45, but I know what you mean those stupid GAP commercials..they think that they are triggering a memory from ppls youth and that will make them run out and buy whatever  they're selling. Only thing it makes me do is change the channel. Commercialism  >:( >:( Another thing really irritating is all of these kids "bringing back" 70's and 60's, even 80's music that was good then, but coming out of these "prefabricated" groups, (think A teens) or young ppl, it just sounds pathetic, a pale imitation. Ok, I will step off of my soapbox now  ;)

The song currently stuck in my head? Two lines should do it, and if not, ask someone who is not ashamed to tell you which song it is.

"He said, 'D'you want it pasturized?  'Cause pasturized is best,'
She says, 'Ernie, I'll be happy if it comes up to my chest.'"

Geez, I should have better things to do.
