Subject: Christmas Songs and Weather

Written By: CeramicsFanatic on 12/20/02 at 03:19 p.m.

So many Christmas songs talk about the weather, and how everyone hopes for a 'white' Christmas so that they can make snowmen and all.  Well, I am curious to know just how many people can actually get a 'white' Christmas.

We can't get snow where I live.  It's a sub-tropical climate.  I think there are more countries in this world that don't get snow than those that do, but I could be wrong.

We have had a white Christmas here in the last several years but I will be in Arkansas for Christmas this year and it better not snow!

We can get snow here in the mountains of SW Va. I don't care one way or the other but I've got some company coming around New Years eve and they are wishing for snow. ;)

Right now the forecast is calling for a possible white Christmas for West Virginia.  But I really feel sorry for those in the Southern Hemisphere, where Christmas falls in the summer!

But it will be gone by the days after Christmas, though! That is all that is important!

Yabut.....

People in the Southern Hemisphere get to go swimming and have barbecues on Christmas.  >:(  And beach parties.   :( And wet t-shirt contests.  8) And...well, you get the idea.

I live in the north, but on a seacoast.  Any clouds that come my way have a 50% chance of warming up when they swirl over the ocean, making for rain instead of snow.

The current forcast is for "something" to be falling on Christmas morning.  It's too early for them to tell whether it's going to be rain, snow, or reindeer poop. :P

Eh !  Wet T-shirt contests ?  We have the P.C. police over here - they make sure no-one enjoys themselves with wet t-shirt contests !  Apparently, it offended someone - once.... ::)

We can have BBQ's virtually any time of year Xena, so the thrill wears off pretty quick, and getting sunburnt is not anjoyable way to spend Christmas/New Year....

But you are right - we do have the OPTION of doing it - allin all I'd take the snow and the roaring fire and curling up on the couch with a good book friend  ;)

I have to say, being an Aussie girl - and a Queenslander at that - that I would LOVE a white Christmas.  Our Christmas days are never really enjoyable weather wise, as its always too hot.  Last year was sooooo hot  - I hope its cloudy this year!

Being in New England, we have a pretty good chance of having a white Christmas.  Weather here is very unpredictable.  We had quite a bit of snow for Thanksgiving this year,(which is odd) but it was quite warm yesterday.  They are predicting snow for Christmas but that could change any minute now.

Back in Maine, I got used to the White Christmas's, but here in Florida, the chance of snow is pretty damn dim.  Like our friends in the SOuthern Hemisphere, we're more likely to be barbecueing our Christmas dinner.  And I'll take sunny and warm over cold and white any day!

If we drive about an hour and a half, we can have a white Christmas. I don't like cold weather but having to take off my Christmas sweater because it's too hot, sucks.

Hey C.F., what about hopping over to the Big Island? Someday, I want to do a Christmas with the whales and big waves. ;)

The 3 day forecast (i.e. for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) in Brisbane is for Thunder and Lightning Storms !

Woo-hoo !  If I can't have snow, this is the next best thing, and temps under 30 degrees celsius (that's 80 deg fahrenhite)

What can I say but  :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P      ;D

I for one, do not want a white Christmas, unless of course, it snows a couple of days before Christmas.  Mainly because I have to drive to my parents house in Baltimore for Christmas morning and then back to Virginia to my Other's parents' house for Christmas dinner.  And traveling in bad weather is a pain and if it's bad enough to where we can't travel, that means a Christmas spent away from my family.  Right now they are calling for a Wintry mix on the 25th.

I don't like storms very much (that's an understatement - I'm terrified of them!) but I do like the fact that temperatures will be under 30 degrees celsius.  Last year the temperature reached about 42 degrees celsius  and the heat was unbearable.  Christmas Day is so much nicer when the weather is a little cooler

i also hope its only around 30 deg on xmas day, last year we went swimming from 8am - 10am and all got really sun burnt.  Last year here it was too hot to do any thing.  We do have bbq's for dinner but along with a bbq and a hot day comes lots of fly's!!!  but we always have a great day any way
