Subject: My Father

Written By: shazzaah on 12/31/02 at 02:19 p.m.

Hello, everybody. I know this is supposed to be a happy place, but I have so much grief that I just don't know how else to express it, except to put this here. I am trying to be so strong for my family, and it is so hard. My father died suddenly yesterday. He would have been 54 tomorrow, New Years Day. I wanted to put something here, I hope you all won't mind.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousands winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

So...to the Beach Boys lover, the "Chevy" man, the Vietnam Vet, the father that seemed so big when I was so small... I love you Daddy. I am just sorry I didn't tell you that before.

Sherri

Sherri, I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  Your father was so young!  Try to think of the great times you spent together and hopefully that will give you the strength you need during this tragic time.  :(

Shazzah, that's sad news.  I'm so sorry to hear it.

I once heard that whenever we think about those who have passed on, they can hear our thoughts.  It's a concept that has been used in many novels and tv shows, but I heard it first from someone who had an uncanny ability to comfort people who were in pain and grief-stricken. (He later went on to become a member of the clergy).

With this in mind, know that every time you think about your father, and how much you love him, he hears you, and he knows.

First off please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and second....don't ever feel that you can't open up here.  I found this place last February and have had the support of many who have continued to be here for me through my days of sadness....I'm so sorry this happened but maybe my son Blaine and your father have met in Heaven. If you ever need to talk, I am here for you :-*

Sherri,
   I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. Even at the ripe old age of 39, I find it hard to not have my Daddy when I need him. It will get better. I promise. Soon there will be more happy memories than sad ones. It's alright to cry and it's also alright to laugh. And don't worry, Daddies always know their daughters love them.
Take Care.

Sherri-So sorry for your loss.  I lost my Dad 2 years ago.  He was 59.  And still makes me sad from time to time.  I miss him alot but know that he is never far from me. ( Love you, Daddy.)  And Sherri,  I am sure your Dad knows you love him even if you didn't have the opportunity to say it. God Bless.

Just want to say thank you all for your kindness. It really, really means a lot to me. I can't say how much. His death is sudden and unexpected and it has hit us hard. Thank you again.
