Subject: Votes Being Tabulated..New Feature
At The suggestion of a great friend I am posing this question here....would anyone like a feature where you could cast "Votes" on topics? They would not count as posts and you may only vote once. I would like this to pass..... So...what are your thoughts on this :D

Could be cool....I think it just depends on:
A. The topic, and
B. Chuckie's ability to incorporate something like this...especially with the time constaints he has now. Who would write the program?

If it's not too hard on Chucky, I'd like to see it happen.
It's a feature on another forum I go to occasionally. People can have threads to discuss the subject in detail, but the votes don't count unless they place it in the 'vote' section.

What about certaing constraints? Like no voting on members? I'd hate to have a Do you hate Race Bannon vote come up, I'd have to change my user name. ;)

Seriously, I am in favour of it 101% - and if possible - the type that doesn't reveal the current vote until you vote yourself ! :P
Although I do realise that may take away from people who do just wanna look..... :-/

You know a lot of people don't like me here, and I would hate it if this came up to a vote and they kicked me off! I would very much miss this place if they threw me off and I would come back under a new name! So please don't do this to kick people off this board! You don't know how much it means to me to come here!

I think that'd be harassment under the forum guidelines...but I'm not sure. I don't think people here are hateful enough to do that kind of thing though.

I'm a little confused. The original post for this thread was about casting votes on topics, but now people are talking about the possibility of voting on members. I don't get it. ???

I would think that if such a thing came into being, there would/should be a very strict rule that certain topics (such as popularity or otherwise) would NOT be a subject for voting.
Subject to harsh punishment by moderators !

I'd guess it's got to be part of the YaBB code: if it's not there already, it'll be a big job for Chucky to write; if part of the cgi script has a voting topic (as some messageboard scripts do), it'll be a case of enabling it rather than writing the thing.
It would be a fun thing to have (parody-wise, too)

Way back when I joined, he was kind enough to put in a "Before The 70's" area after a positive feedback...so here's to hoping it won't be difficult for this to happen....no matter though...everyone already likes you for creating this wonderful place anyway, Chucky ;)
