This question has been danced around for ages. There are threads and threads asking for your top 5 bands etc...
Now, everyone who chooses to answer MUST say ONE favourite band/artist. Not 'ooh - its between ?? and ??, beacuse I can't choose.' You must give your definitive answer!! It may be tough, but go for it!
Two years ago I wouldn't have even been able to do it, but I can now safely say it's...

Out of all the bands and singers I like, there is always one I will listen to, no matter what mood I am in. He has been around since the early 80's, is still making music, and has changed his style several times, and it always is good to listen to. It can energize me when I need a pick-me-up, and soothe me when I need stress relief.

Beastie Boys. I've been kind of doubting it lately since it has taken them so long to make another album, but, alas they are finally working on another one. The way they've been able to re-invent themselves and push boundaries over the years is what sets them apart from most bands.

When I was fifteen, the hated piano lessons I had taken for as long as I could remember started seeming to actually pay off. My rising talent coincided with my growing interest in rock music, something my parents had cut me off from in childhood. I quickly developed a set of favorite bands, but they were all guitar based. I had no piano god; every famous piano player was well past their prime. The current piano players were all simpering Lilith Fair girls, and the band that would change my life:

After bog knows how many years, they still rank well above and beyond anything else I've ever heard. Just the sheer output of great works and their durability throughout the years is reason enough, but I can keep on ranting and raving about them right into a 3000-word elegy. I was going to put in Roxy Music 'cause they smack of coolness too (and some might consider it blasphemy to have them come in second). There's too much nostalgia involved with them, I don't know if I could ever objectively look at Roxy Music and see anything wrong with them. I can't help myself.
I think even if I were to grow to hate them, I'd still name this other band as my all-time favourite...

I tried, I really did........but when I start to say Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin gets slighted in my mind. When I start to say The Beatles, The Eagles don't get their just due. I sat for 10 minutes and thought about this and for the original "ADD" kid, thats saying something. I'm sorry.........I really am.
