Their was a theatre in my town that for years played that movie on Saturday nights at midnight.  They'd have actors recreating the scenes too, although I think every theatre that showed that movie did .  It was enjoyanle and quite a spectacle I should say.  I just remember when I saw it for the first time, I was surprised to see the Butler(Tim Curry) from Clue in it.  A somewhat slightly different role.

It was a low budget film that would have sank into oblivion had someone not come up with the marvelous addition of audience participation. And I love it to this day, probably because of the audience participation. You haven't had the full experience until you have seen it live. ;D Don't forget to bring your newspaper, rice, watergun, cards, lighter, toilet paper......etc.  ;)

I LOVE the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I have seen it I don't know how many times. I love the music to it, too. I just recently saw the Rocky Horror Show at our local college. It was well done for a college production.

Me too. Like I said in an earlier post, the play was performed at the local college. I dragged my honey to it. (It kind of helped that he knew the director.) He finally admited that he had fun. It was the first time he saw it so yes, I bought a "virgin" with me. Now, he is "freshly dugged." lol. At least he knows what it is when I play the CD now. I do have the movie on video but it really loses A LOT if you don't see it in the theatre.

Both my husband and I love the film.  Never had chance to see the stage show but I've heard its a riot.

My four year old daughter has a mini-disco CD from our last holiday and one of the songs on it is the Timewarp.  Not the original  :(

It's very weird hearing her singing "I remember doing the Time wa-a-rp" and "Its the pelvis thrust that really drives you insay-yay-yay-ane".  Never really sure about the legalities of incouraging a minor to do the dance!

What a fantastic movie (I've never seen the stage show, although I have seen Amber Benson (Tara from Buffy) doing 'Touch me')

The cast was great - Tim Currie, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick. etc.

And no end of the songs are memorable.

This movie really Rose tints my world ;)

SKELLINGTON PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS:
'Science Fiction Double Feature PLUS Audience Participation'
(With apologies for rudeness: swear words have been censored)

(A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, God said, let there be lips! And there were! And they were beautiful! And then they started singing!!!)
Michael Rennie was ill the day the Earth stood still
But he told us (to f*** off!)
Where we stand (on our feet!)
And Flash Gordon was there in silver/crotchless underwear (kinky!)
Claude Reins was the Invisible Man (but he didn't show up!)
Then something went wrong for Faye Wray and/f***ed King Kong,
They got caught in a celluloid/sexual jam (a 69!)
Then at a deadly pace it came from/on (where?) outer space/Janet's face (thank you!)
And this is how the message ran (Read those lips!!)
Science Fiction
Double feature.
Dr X (sex sex sex!) will build a creature.
See androids fighting (and f***ing and sucking on)
Brad and Janet.
Anne Francis stars in (what's your favourite movie?)
Forbidden Planet,
whoah-oh-oh-oh,
At the late night (early morning) double feature Rocky Horror picture show.
I knew Leo G Carrol was over a barrell
When Tarantula took to the hills/L.S.D.! (lick those lips!)
And I really got hot
When I saw Janette Scott
Fight a triffid that spits poison and kills (what the f***'s a triffid?)
Dana Andrews said Prunes gave him the runes/s***s
And passing them used lots of skills (yay skills!)
But when worlds collide (ow, that hurts!)
Said George Pal to his bride,
I'm gonna give you some terrible/sexual thrills
Like a (sex ray!!)
CHORUS
At the late night (early morning) double feature Rocky Horror picture show.
I want to go (well you should've gone before we came - that's just the trouble, she came before we went!)
Whoah-oh,
To the late night (early morning) double feature Rocky Horror picture show.
By R.K.O. (R.K. who? R.K. Horror!)
Whoah-oh,
To the late night (early morning) double feature Rocky Horror picture show. (where's the best place to make out?)
In the back row (f*** the back row! f*** the front row! f*** all the rows! orgy! orgy!)
To the late night (early morning) double feature Rocky Horror picture show.
(Bye bye lips!!!)

My younger sister took me to see this in Hollyweird, CA about 20 years ago and I've been hooked ever since.  I was fortunate enough to see the whole production. :)

I've even caught my 16 yr old son singing some of the songs a time or two.  I suggested last Halloween that he and his friends go as Frankfurther, Brad, Janet and the rest.  Didn't quite get them convinced.  Maybe this year. ;)

I am so glad to see that their are others who love this show. It is addicting....and so much fun. That clinches it I am going to go sometime dressed as Dr Frankenfurter, and hopefully recruit others in my area as well. LOL But I will have to drive a couple hours...love to see the reaction from other drivers to a carload of RHPS fanatics in full costume- around where I live it would be considered unusual.

I totally adore RHPS - In the late 70's and early 80's my friends and I use to go to the midnight Thursday night shows every single week.

I was always talking my dad into a midnight pre christmas showing at our drive in - teamed up with "Shock Treatment" after it was released.

I had my first ever kiss in Dec82 during Susans "toucha toucha" scene.

In 1985 my friends and I were bored so we called Guiness Book of World Records and proceeded to watch it no less than 370 times in a row.

I've been to various stage versions in Australia thru the 80's.  Daniel Abineri in my mind was second only to Tim Curry in his legendary Frank potrayal - I saw him approx 40 times in the role.  Also saw Russell Crowe play Frank in 86 or 87 (will have to dig out my old ticket collection !!) two nights in a row before he went back to playing Eddie/Dr Scott, and in the 90's I tolerated Jason Donovan in the role - ergh.

I have 4 versions of the video, and the current DVD version, all the posters from my drive in era, and the show programs and t shirts, coffee cups, badges, sweaters, the works !!

When I met Tim Curry in Tahoe in 1988 I broke into Sweet T and couldnt stop myself !!  How embarrassing.  But he laughed and joined in and showed me how to curl my lip better - sigh !!  I wish I could do the eyebrow thing - I could never do it !

And finally - just to embarrass myself even further - I am most famous at Perth Partys for breaking into spontaneous "Columbia" moments during Time Warp.

OK - I need help - maybe there is a twelve step program.....

Its twelve steps to the left .....................................

Hiya Philbo - was that in the UK ?  I didnt realised Jason had done the role over there as well.  He was totally awful in it here.  I actually would have to say it was the worst Rocky I had ever sat thru.

Shazzah - yes Russ was just a young lad then - bout 21 or 22 - little huney - and quite lush in a pair of suspenders !! ;)  :P  :o

Gad - reading my original post back it almost looks obsessive !!!  But its been spread over 25 years so its a slow burnin obsession !!!   ;D

Wonderful songs, kooky characters, Richard O'Brien, Tim Curry, Susan Surrandon, Barry "The Mayor on Spin City" Bostwick,..... One of the best movies ever made. I heard that Joan Jett once played Columbia in one of the stage versions.

Gotta a question. During the song Eddie, what is the line that the audience says. "He was the thorn (not the flower but the thorn) in his mother's side (____?)"  This has been driving me crazy for years. I have always been saying, "And I don't know that line." It seemed to fit. lol. Thanks guys.

Fox tried to do that once. It really sucked. First of all, they had all the commercials so that took away from the movie. Then they bleeped out all those wonderful names that everyone called Bran and Janet. If they were to just set the camera in the back of a theatre and just let it run, it may work but what Fox did, didn't work at all.
