Subject: Even those with a Mulciberian charm...

Written By: L'Enfant Provocateur on 02/03/03 at 10:59 a.m.

... cannot help to think of Valentine's Day. I know, I know. It's a commercialized, mediatized holiday developed by card-making companies, candy-makers, jewelers, and florists ::) Still, above all those things, ignoring that idea (and possible fact), will anyone be a somebody else's Valentine? Are you planning to surprise that special someone? Reveal your true feelings? Maybe just play a slow, romantic song over a candle-lit dinner? A waltz on a cool February night? A crazy thought on what would be playing on your wedding ceremony, perhaps? Yeah, really, what would be the song to be played on such an occassion?

I just heard The Deele's "Two Occassions" and, dag nammit, all these thoughts raced through my mind. It is a beautiful song... an indescribable feeling, like an endless sigh.

So boardies, what are your thoughts and plans?

If there's a special someone in your life, every day should be Valentine's day!

Mulciberian?  Unless I am wrong, doesn't Mulciberian have something to do with metalworking?   ???

Anyway, no plans (yet).

Waiting for Gabble, TV9, Rice, the Florio's, JimA, STG, Junior or one (or 2 or 3 or 4 or ...) of the many other gallant young men on the board looking for a message board valentine. ;) :-*

Yes it does. Mulciber is another name for Hephaestus (or Vulcan), the God of metalworks. He is also renown for being ugly and de-formed. Thus, the phrase "Mulciberian charm" ;)

Considering we have less than two weeks to finish building our robot and a meeting every night from here to then, Valentine's day is going to fall a little by the wayside this year.  We'll still exchange presents, but we'll probably be half asleep while we do it!

Now, for the kids on the robot team, I plan on taking in a big bowl of sweetart and starburst hearts (with the little sayings on them) and Jolly Rancher lollipops (also with sayings on them) since they're all such sweeties.

cooking at my place for my girlfriend.. Valentine's day kinda crept up on me this year, and when I realized it was on a Friday, I doubted very much that I'd find a resteraunt that wasn't crowded beyond capacity..

I still have no idea for a gift.. and I want to design a card myself, I hate store bought stuff.. I'd rather not deal with a card, rather than buy a Hallmark piece of toilet paper..

I have never had a girlfriend on Valentine's Day.  that doesn't look like it's going to change this year.  Miraculously, I am not bitter.

Valentine's Shmalentine's....it's a horrid night for a show.....just couples.....no big, loud boisterous groups...everyone is just quiet and the show will suck...I always work Valentine's...which is just as well... *sigh*

My honey and I will probably go out to dinner and then...well.  ;)  I made a card for him yesterday (one of those computer programs) and right after I printed it up, I realize that I didn't even write "Happy Valentine's Day" on it. But he will know what it is for.

Haha. I happened to find an old duped copy of Electric Dreams on cassette. I had forgotten how good that movie was.

The song "Love Is Love" is stuck in my head now. Now there's a Culture Club song people hardly mention nowadays...

I love that movie. I am still looking for that Bach Concerto they played in that.
