Now this is more like it..... ;)

1. Avenging Annie -- Andy Pratt (the best-crafted classic rock ballad ever written)

2. Diamonds by the Yard -- Elliott Murphy (poetry that soars...)

3. The Great Compromise -- John Prine (a brilliant entertaining analogy on the Vietnam War)

Hmmmm. Difficult because I think people should hear different types of music for different reasons, so I will just stick to more recent stuff that I have discovered.

"Get Free" by The Vines ~ Currently listening to this type of thing when I am doing my  kickboxing workouts. Download and listen and you will see why it is good for this purpose.

K's Choice, any song really but "Virgin State of Mind" is a good example of moody music with fantastic poetic lyrics. Sample of it currently under my avatar.

"Transylvanian Concubine" by Rasputina, mixed by Marilyn Manson. I don't like techno and I don't like Marilyn Manson, but he did the girls a favor by mixing this song. Fantastic.

Oooo no. You have to pick three. I count eight in your list ;) It's more interesting to be forced to pick only three and see which ones you leave out for what you consider the true essential tunes that we all must hear.

I'm betting the Simon LeBon tune will be one of those three and maybe The Alan Parsons Project, but you could suprise all of us by picking none of the above and going with an entirely different three! Paul King's "Love And Pride," perhaps? "Love Bites" by Def Leppard? No way. Impredictability.

TRY AGAIN, Dr. Durand Durand
