Subject: Favorite movie soundtrack

Written By: Shannon on 02/17/03 at 00:12 a.m.

Most movie soundtracks to me are pretty bad but there are a few that are actually quite good.  What are your favorites, if any?

Mine:

Queen Of The Damned Sountrack  (the movie was horrible)
Manhunter Sountrack
Grease Sountrack

Oh my gosh...so many...

Let's see...I thought the Forrest Gump soundtrack was very comprehensive.  I also liked the easy-listening of the "Stand By Me" soundtrack and the feel-good-grooves of the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack :)

I agree - loved the soundtrack, hated the movie - can't believe Anne Rice was ok with it.

Also liked:
This Is Spinal Tap
Amadeus
Not Another Teen Movie (another stupid movie with some fun music - all cover songs)

Most of mine have already been mentioned. I would have to add The Big Chill, though.

This is a tough one but if i had to pick one it would be the Queen of the Damned soundtrack.  Though the movie kind of sucked and you want to talk about false advertising.

The soundtracks I play to death are:

Grease
Dirty Dancing
Roadhouse
Youve Got Mail
City of Angels (another of those crap movie great soundtrack moments)
Rocky Horror
Priscilla Queen Of The Desert
Moulon Rouge

And for just plain soundtrack theme music - ie no songs - I have never been able to go past The Man From Snowy River - it actually makes me cry - the entire album.

People are going to slap me for this, but James Horner did a great job for the Titanic soundtrack. I love the music, especially "South Hampton" and "Rose"  :)

Pal Joey

For recent, non-musicals, I'd pick the "Travelers" soundtrack.

"Gladiator" & "The Insider".  Hans Zimmer's work never fails to amaze me, and Lisa Gerrard's haunting vocalizations are right on the mark.

I also enjoy "Ghostbusters", all the "Indiana Jones" scores and the Giorgio Moroder's "Midnight Express" score.
