Subject: Most Boring Songs

Written By: lebeiw15 on 02/27/03 at 06:35 p.m.

In your opinion, what are the most boring songs in the world?
What songs are just so long and drug-out that they seem to last an hour?  Here's mine:

Creed-- "With Arms Wide Open"
Dave Matthews Band--"Where Are You Going"
Five For Fighting-- "Superman (It's Not Easy)"
Creed-- "One Last Breath"
Any John Mayer song
Any John Mellencamp song
R.E.M.-- "The One I Love"
Dave Matthews Band-- "Crash Into Me"
Marc Anthony-- "You Sang to Me"
Kid Rock-- "Only God Knows Why"
Genesis-- "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight"
Celine Dion-- "My Heart Will Go On"

"pay the man" by the offspring - granted, that song is almost ten minutes long, but you seriously go into a trance while listening to it...

and anything by the dave matthews band.

Oddly, I love most of those songs, and Pay the Man is one of my favorite songs of all time... But we all have different tastes.

That one Norah Jones song (Don't know Why, I think it is), anything by Natalie Merchant, and Hard to Explain by the Strokes come to mind right away.

Give me one reason - Tracy Chapman
I can't make you love me - Bonnie Rait
Believe - Cher
Angel - Sara McLachlan (good lyrics, but her singing makes me drowsy)
Carnival - Natalie Merchant
I want it that way - Backstreet Boys
Let her Cry - Hootie and the Blowfish

...and all the ones you listed too.

Most of Tori Amos and Sarah Maclachlan fall into this category. I like their voices and they are talented musicians, but their themes just leave me with a blank stare. I also cannot bring myself to like Bon Jovi and Def Leppard more than I should. There are a few songs here and there, but I feel like I should like more of their stuff. It's just that a lot of it sounds boring to me. I would never doubt their potential for creating music that isn't boring to me since I don't equate "boring" with "bad" or "untalented," so they're not bad, they just... bore me.

The same could be said for certain painters and writers.

"A Thousand Miles" by Venessa Carlton
"Wherever you will go" by The Calling
"One Week" by Bare Naked Ladies
"All Star" by Smash Mouth

I picked these compositions because they have been overplayed to the max.

I love "Don't Know Why," but Norah's other song "Come Away with Me" is one of the least interesting songs ever.  Songs by Usher bore me to no end.  "Crash Into Me" by the DMB.  The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go" is positively wretched in its dullness.  The Stereophonics "Mr. Writer" is monotonous.

I actually like John Mellencamp a lot.  But what Lebeiw says is true, most of his songs do drag out and aren't what you want to put on when you need a pick-me-up.  Except for Cherry Bomb, which I think is a very upbeat song.  To each their own ;)

I think this is a great song.  I don't think it's boring at all.  Just my opinion though  ::)

Boring artists for me are:

anything & everything by Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Marc Anthony, DMB, Phish, Rusted Root, Creed, John Mayer, Mariah Carey & Shania Twain.

About Creed:  Is it me, or does it seem like the lead singer really likes being in front of a wind fan?  Seems like his semi-mullet is always blowing in the wind in his videos.  What's up with that?  And that hair! :o  Who is his stylist?  Cause he should be fired!  :-/

That's what I think.  Same goes for the Police... their songs are repetitive to no end, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I don't know how I forgot this song, man it's annoying.  It's what?  Six minutes long?  And it's basically repeating the same thing over and over.

I don't know how I forgot Natelie Merchant too.  Talk about your boring voice ::)

More boring songs:

T.A.T.U. "All the Things She Said"
Bryan Adams "Everything I Do (I Do it For You)"
Sarah McLachlan "I Will Remember You"

There's this one song by Mellencamp I really like because of the "cowbells". It's called "So Tough". It's actually not boring.

As far as what I think is boring, I agree with almost everything posted, especially "Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman and "Carnival" by Natalie Merchant.

looking back at some of the songs listed here these are boring songs, IMO and in no particular order:

Norah Jones "Don't know why"
Tracy Chapmans "Give me one reason"
Nsync or back street boy-name it i find it boring....

I love both of these songs! REM one especially. Just the irony in the song gets me - may be repetitive, but it needs to be spelt out to some people. Or they'll end up like my mother, who for about 10 years beleived this to be 'a beautiful love song' ;D

Hmm, so boring songs then...

Chris De Burgh - Lady In Red (immediatly sprang to mind!)

Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around

Any artist who has released 'Spirit In The Sky' (Gareth Gates version included - does this guy wanna release any more covers - they outnumber his original tracks 2 to 1)

Renee and Renata - Save Your Love (not to mention its probably the wort number 1 in the British charts history)

Michael Jackson - You Are Not Alone/Heal The World/Earth song/Cry - MJ, you're a genuis. And a slightly strange one at that. Just don't release anything like these songs again. Please.

I may be shot from some indie fans, but I find Coldplay extremely tiresome. I know they have talent, I'm sorry, I just think they're plain boring. I'm a huge indie fan - but can't get into their stuff.

Journey are terribly uninteresting to me on a whole.

The Dave Matthews Band is boring, definitely.  Their songs are just so... well, boring.  Except for the song "What Would You Say?"  I love that song!  And I can tolerate the song "Crush".  I got sick of hearing "Where Are You Going?" this past summer all the time, and I can no longer stand that song.  "Crash Into Me" is just plain BORING.

'White Christmas'  - Bing Crosby (I'm lucky it only get's played once a year)
'Uptown top ranking' - Althia and Donna (What were they singing about?)
'Fade to Grey' - Visage (The worst of electropop)
'Crazy' - Patsy Cline (So . . . slow)
'Amigo' - Black Slate (Awful repetitive Reggae)
'I need you' - B.V.S.M.P (Grating singing)
'Mated' - David Grant and Jaki Graham (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

And to all those who think 'Fast Car' is boring - my god! That songs sends shivers down me when I hear it. It's such a powerful portrayal of reality. Scratch "Any John Mellencamp Song" off my original post.  Now, I only think that a lot of John Mellencamp songs are boring, especially "Lonely Ol' Night" and "Cherry Bomb".

Also, scratch off "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" by Genesis.  Kinda long, but I like it now.
