Subject: 1st Annual Messageboard Academy Awards--Noms!

Written By: Rice Cube on 03/11/03 at 11:41 a.m.

Before we bust out the First Annual Messageboard Academy Awards, we need some categories and nominations :)  Anyone interested can post here or direct your suggestions at the Princess of Ceremonies, Princessofpop :D

We'll take nominations for the week or so leading up to the Oscars, and then rock out with a big party in Playful Penguin Place with your favorite emcee, DJ Midas, to celebrate the winners :)

It's up to you whether you want to do this by open vote, private message voting to the Princess of Ceremonies, OR if you want to form a committee of Penguin affairs for this.  Please don't hesitate to give input :)

Ready?  Go!

PS:  Dear Hairspray, if you feel this should be moved to the Games, feel free to do so :)

I thought we would start out by coming up with some categories.  Please post any thoughts or suggestions!

Most popular male member
Most popular female member
Funniest member
Most instructive
Most motherly
Most fatherly
Most flirtatious
Most active
Most political
Most likely to start a debate
Best avatar
Best signature line
Most uses of smilies in their posts
Best reps of the following:
Before 70's
80's
90's
2000's
Quizzes
Board Games

Please share your thoughts...........

As for any of the parody categories, I am not that familiar with them so, maybe someone else can pick those?

And as for the lifetime award, and any other specialties, I thought we could vote on those as well.

"Most knowledgable" should be reconsidered because of sensitivity issues, as well.

It's fair to say we're all most knowledgable in different areas.  :)

Other categories that came to mind:

Most Active Newbie

Most Modified  ;D

Most Political

Best Before The 70's Representative

Best 70's Rep.

Best 80's Rep.

Best 90's Rep.

Best 2000's Rep.

Best Games Rep.

Best Quizzes Rep.

I also think regular participation should be required to be considered for the awards.

I also think it should be 1 award per member elected. That way, everyone has a chance to be chosen.  ;)

Geez, I just went all-out in thoughts, didn't I?!  ;D

How about we set the deadline for all categories for Friday, then start threads in the games board for similar categories?  I think having an individual thread for every category would get really confusing and hard to track.

Yeah, I was wondering about that.  What if each thread hits five pages before members in other time zones have a chance to log in at all?

Say Princess starts the threads at 6am Eastern time USA.  Those of us that are able to log in early do so, but the threads hit five pages at around 2pm Eastern time.

We have a lot of active members in Australia and the UK, who may not be able to get here at that time of day/night.

Why not watch the time stamp instead, and lock it after 24 hours?

I'm wonderful I love everyone especially children and animals. If I win this award I want to use the resulting fame to do good deeds for my fellow human beings throughout the world.I'll have lots of pictures taken of me cuddling said children and animals whilst looking like the caring and compassionate person that I am,without actually getting my clothes or hair messd up or my hands dirty. I'll never actually donate a penny of the vast piles of cash I'll make from all my public appearances but so what? I'm so great it doesn't matter !
Hey I'm still the down to earth girl next door as long as there's everything I demand in my dressing room and my adoring public don't actually come more than 10 feet near me at any given time.

Just wanted to update you on the Awards.....

Rice and I decided to let the voting continue since not everyone had a chance to vote over the weekend.  The schedule will be as follows:

Wednesday = last day to vote
Thursday = announcements
Friday = the winners!

We will announce the winners on Friday.  If you have already gotten several votes, I would hope that you are working on your acceptance speeches! :D

Thanks again for your votes! ;)

Another thing we could do is PM the winners on Thursday (you probably already know who you are) and then have them get a speech ready on Friday, when we do an Oscar-style show.  What say you, Princess of Ceremonies?  :D

Sorry guys for not posting the results until today.  I have been VERY busy with other things & haven't had the time to log on.  I will post all the results here on the PPP thread as well as PM the winners in each category!

Rice Cube & I want to thank you all for participating. :D

P.O.P. :-*
