Subject: How did you get here?

This has probably been done before, but how did you end up at this Message Board for the first time?  I mean were you "Googling", or did a friend tell you about it?  And if you found it via a search engine, do you remember what you were looking for in the first place?

I found this site when I was searching on Google for the words "80's Music".  And I lurked here for a while, but never posted anything until I realized what a great place this was & how friendly everyone seemed.

According to the records I officially registered on October 17th, 2002 at around 5 PM.  I came to Chucky's inthe80s site when I found Chris Pythila's "Pi" parody (a classic!) and it eventually shifted to amiright.  I believe that was either '98 or '99.  I visited amiright frequently and didn't start submitting parodies with my friend Watt until around '00 or '01, and did so semi-regularly starting in '02.  I believe 10/17/02 was when I noticed the announcement about the amiright award winners for that time period, and so I registered and here I be.  :)

I found the 80s site a long time ago, back when the misheard lyrics were actually on the 80s site (before amIright).  I checked out the 80s site on and off for awhile, and in June 2001 I went back to the 80s site and noticed that there was a new site amIright.  I have been at amIright since and was on the old messageboard for a while there.  Then this new messageboard was set up but I didn't start using it till January of '02.

I stumbled upon this messageboard a few months ago, but I was familiar with Chucky G's "In The 80's" site since 2000.

I migrated from the old board with SS, dagwood, Jonman, CF and several others. I think I found the old board via search engine.

I was looking at the Donnie Iris site Parallel Lines and there was a link here for 80s songs, memorobelia (sp?) and movies. As PoP said once I saw good people here, I registered and been having fun ever since. I was away for about 6 months though, playing too much EverQuest! ;D

Wipeoutgirl and I were looking to see if there were any sites about Brian Mannix and the Uncanny X-Men (a great 80s Aussie band - in our opinion) and stumbled across this one when we looked up 80s sites.

I lurked for months - finally joined and have loved it ever since. :D

And we never did find a website about Brian Mannix!

I first found this site in 1999 when I was looking for lyric quizzes.  I have been coming here ever since.  :)

I clicked on a link from a defunct website back in late 1999 or early 2000. The website was a tribute to Baltimora (surprise, surprise!). It had the lyrics and a midi file of it along with a brief bio of Jimmy McShane. At the bottom, there was a link to ChuckyG's website. I clicked on it, lurked for a bit and read about Spandau Ballet (!!!), came back months later, and the rest is board history.

Eeek - Geck I swear I will build one soon for the Xmen !!!  Gawd knows I have Brians entire life history in a box - not to mention some gorgeous candid photos from my days with the band !!!  Did you see even Hugh Jackman mentioned them on Rove the other night - he said when he was asked to audition for the movie Xmen that he had never heard of the comic - only the band !!!  But then he is a 68er like me so its his era too !!

I found this place about 18 months ago (or slightly more).  I had built a site that was a petition to save the Perth Entertainment Centre from demolition and I was searching for places to post the link to interested parties.  Once I found this place I forgot to leave !!!!

I think I first came here in 1998 back when it was still part of the worcestermass site. It was through misleard lyrics that brought me here, however I can't remember what I was looking for at the time.

Through an argument with my brother over the lyrics to a Golden Earring song. I think like most, it was through typing "lyrics" into a search engine.

Hubby and I were watching "I Love the 80's" and were trying to think of an artist.  Searched for 80's male singers and ended up here.  Kept coming back to see if anyone had answered my question, and just got hooked ;D

I found the boards through inthe80.com.

I was looking for help on my 80s music and fashion article that I was composing for English class - and thankfully, a lot of you guys helped me out. It was then published on the BBC's website which I'm very proud of. When it was on the website, I did post the link up on the 80s board and got a lot of responses. So thanks to all you guys who helped me, and those who enjoyed reading the article! Since then, I've just stuck around. And talked about music. A lot ;D

Hahahaha!  Now it is the other way round - if you mention the X-Men everyone thinks you are talking about a comic :(

I think I will go and listen to 50 years now ;)

Ditto times 3...I found the old board by searching for the title of a song from a movie...I found the old board, posted my question and Chucky himself answered within 5 minutes...I've been hooked ever since.

The song? "Just One Touch" by Phoebe Cates and Bill Wray from the movie Private School for Girls...I knew the singers but not the title...

Ditto times 4.  I found the old board via search engine also, just looking for 80's nostalgia.  I used to only answer questions on the old board about songs.  My first Q that I answered was about Uptown's "(I Know) I'm Losing You."  You know, that club song with the siren in the beginning...

I used to post a fair bit on kissthisguy and either Chucky or CrazyDon posted about this site.  I lurked for a while before registering.

There was quite a gap between registering and really starting to visit here loads because I went on maternity leave and then, can you believe it, forgot about the site.  :o

When I eventually remembered about it I never left again

I was looking for information/theme song for a tv show called Rocky Road.  It aired in the mid-80s on TBS.  I'm glad I did because there are so many really cool people here!

My boyfriend found it May of last year when he was looking for some music information.  He joined and then told me about it because he knows I love message boards.  He's only posted on here a few times, all in the 1970s forum.

I was using a search engine looking for 80's commercials , and I found this web site, for a while I never went into the message board because I didn't notice it. I finally saw it. I spent a couple of days as a guest and then became a member.

Now why didn't I think of that??  ;D ;D

Actually, I was searching for something from the 80's.  I think it was Kajagoogoo.  Two of the hits brought me to Chucky's inthe80.com site.  At the time, I would automatically check out the home page of every site I went to (I still do more often than not....I've found a lot of cool sites that way.)

Anyway, while I was at the main page, I clicked on the link to the messageboard, ( the old one) and lurked for almost the whole time, even though I visited it everyday.  I made one or two posts, but I don't remember on what, so I don't think I could find them now.

After Chucky changed over to this messageboard (the "new" one everyone refers to) I eventually registered.  And stayed.

Thanks!!   That was very nice of you to say.  :)
I lurk a lot but only choose to respond when something catches my fancy or I feel the need to make my opinion known.  I'm mostly on at work so I can only really get on sporadically.  But I do check in occasionally just so I'm up to speed with everything that's going on.
