Subject: Happy Mother's Weekend

Written By: Rice Cube on 05/09/03 at 02:41 p.m.

I know the official holiday isn't until Sunday, and in some places outside of the USA it does not fall on the same date, but I thought it would be fun to dedicate this whole weekend to the many wonderful moms who frequent this board :)

So...happy Mother's Weekend to the mothers who, in their "tenure," put up with our sh*t in more ways than one (hello Luvs!), cook us wonderful meals, and make sure we never strayed away from the path of righteousness ;D  Your children could labor for a thousand years and not come close to matching the love and dedication you've shown to them.  I hope you know that you are more than appreciated, and this appreciation should last beyond this weekend :)

To the moms I've talked to on this board over the months I've been here, and you know who you are, I've always enjoyed the pictures you've sent me of your children, and hearing about their progress, whether they are learning to read or have learned some new skill, or a nice thing they did for you that day to make you feel loved and special.  I want you to know that you've done a great job, and I look forward to hearing how you spent your Mother's Weekend ;)  I think I'm going to take my mom out for dinner on Sunday, and while I'll be with her in person, I'll be with y'all in spirit.

Here's to Moms!  :D

To all you mothers out there HAPPY MOTHERSDAY!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

My Mom loves John Grisham so I got her a nice card and his latest book "King of Torts". Funny thing, she knew John Grisham's mother since they both grew up near Black Oak AK, "The Painted House" is about that area and is her favorite book. I hope she likes his newest one!  :D

Actually, I got my mother two tickets to a Broadway Play, and a voucher for a two-night stay at The Ritz Carlton Hotel in NYC.   :D  I had to splurge on her this year, because she has been so great to me & helped me alot over the past year.

As for me, I am happy with just a card from my kids.  Esp., now since they can write their own names in it.  :)

Happy Mother's Day!

And FYI, you don't have to stop celebrating when today ends, because every day should be a mother's day ;)

I am a very lucky mommy. My children are "taking" me out to dinner tonight, they have given me some chocolate (oh no) and a lovely plant as well as flowers from my dooryard, haha. I gave my mother a gift certificate and flowers.

And my mother gave me something very special. A framed black and white still of Vivien Leigh as Scarlet in Gone With The Wind.
Mother nature blessed us with some lovely weather and blue skies, so all in all this is a very good day.

Happy Mothers day to all of the wonderful mommies on this board!  :)

Today my 7 1/2 year old daughter let me sleep late.  She fed the cat all by herself, and made her own breakfast (granola bars and American cheese  ::) )

Later on, she "cleaned" the kitchen by herself, and vacuumed the living room by herself.

She gave my a beautiful wooden plaque she has been working on at school for several weeks. It has a lovely poem on it and has lots of glitter paint, covered with a clear plastic sealant (so the glitter won't get all over the place).

A friend is coming over later, and the two of them are going to cook me dinner. ('cuz Tammy isn't allowed to use the stove by herself.)

It's obvious she has put a lot of thought and effort into doing this for me today.

I had to get up early because of a five year old alarm clock. "It's mothers day, mommy and it is morning, get up!" ;)

I got a carnation at church and she made me a card in Sunday School.  Then we went to my moms and had dinner.  After that I came home and mowed the lawn.
